Six Years

Harlan Coben

3.59 AVERAGE

medium-paced

This book did not have the pace I usually associate with a Harlan Coben book - as in - I did not become so engrossed in the story that I had to stay up until 2:00 am to finish.
The initial premise of Natalie and Jake falling madly in love in their short time in Vermont didn't gel with me. Especially what we learn later about Natalie -
Her father was a professor at the college that she claimed to have never seen and that her "artist's retreat" was just a cover for the Fresh Start org.  Why would she get romantically involved with anyone???
Plus - I found Jake to be annoying.
And then there's Benedict - I did not mind the Myron/Win bromance aspects of Jake and Benedict - but again - when we learn the "truth" about Benedict - what?

Dropping my original 3 rating to a 1.5  Finished this three days ago and I’m still brooding about the storyline. What about giving us Natalie’s story? Explain about her father and her obsession that led to her need to disappear for six years.
And what the hell was she doing in those six years??
And why cyanide?
And why could Natalie only get a Fresh Start for her crime - but once Jake is involved they both get to go into witness protection?

Horrible writing and totally predictable. A promising storyline concept with a disappointing follow through.

I enjoy Harlan Coben novels because they are exciting and easy to read. This one had a little extra love story and an occasional confusing plot point. Coben's main characters seem to be cast from the same mold whether they are cops or teachers, there's always a reluctant tough guy hiding inside. I picked this one up from the "Lucky Day" shelf at the library. It didn't disappoint me.

UPDATE: The great part about having a poor memory is that I can read a book twice and not even realize it. I had a feeling a few times that this all seemed very familiar, but I guess it has been 10 years. It's not really good enough to read twice, but it has the usual good pace of a Cohen novel.

Отличен трилър. Части от историята са съшити с бели конци, но кой гледа такива неща в трилър?

Couldn't put it down

This book has it all... action, murder, suspense, and even a love story! Had me hooked within the first chapter and had me staying up late on a Thursday night to finish it! An amazing book and I will definitely be checking out more by this author!

It was the first time that I've read Harlan Coben and I only did so because I had heard that High Jackman signed on to play this role in a movie.

I'm glad to say that I found myself instantly wrapped up in Jake's story and finished the book in about 3 days - which is always the sign of a good book to me.
