I can't imagine why Coben has ever been a bestselling author. The prose of this book was terrible not to mention there were a ton of continuity errors. The plot could have been good if it was better written.
A good quick mystery story. I’d figured out the truth by the end, but the unraveling kept me engaged. Suspenseful, but not scary. It was my first book by this author, and I would read another. 3.5/5.
Couldn't put it down to start with. 3/4 of the way through the narrative of the main character started to get a little repetitive. End was not my fave, but overall a pretty quick and entertaining read.
Imagine you dated a man 6 years ago for 3 months. You even got married. Imagine the man still thinks you are the love of his life 6 years after dating you for 3 months. He tracks down your family and lies his way into their lives and interrogates them so he can find you after you have explicitly told him twice to leave you alone. Imagine that this ex boyfriend is portrayed POSITIVELY as the PROTAGONIST OF THIS BOOK.
This is my second Harlan Coben novel and both times I have immediately realise that the characters are utter trash and yet haven't been able to put it down. The plot is extremely engaging. But, for the love of God, someone take the author to therapy.

I am a big Harlan Coben fan. I enjoy both his stand alone novels as well as his series. However, I have to say that this book didn't grab me as much as his other books have. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed it, but I suppose I have come to expect a lot from Coben and this book fell just a tad short of my expectations.
The story begins with a college professor who finds out that the woman he considers his only love has become widowed. She asked him to never find her, but after six years of keeping that promise, he begins to search her out. When people start trying to kill Jake he probably should have realized that his promise might have been better kept, but he continues searching and getting into deeper trouble.

Not often I get sucked into a book so hard that I finish it in two days.

The book hooked me early on but overall it was just kinda blah. Not a super big fan of the author’s writing style and the voice he gave the main character. I may give another one of his books a try but this one was very mid.
