Although book one is very drawn out and a slow burn, there were hints along the way that kept me interested as a reader. Currently recovering from a concussion at home I have to listen to the book instead of reading it myself so it takes longer, I feel I would have enjoyed it even more if I were able to burn through it quicker. Definitely has a bit of steam but not a lot, more kind of suspense and mystery than romance but it is a great quick read and I will start book two right now :)

I really wanted to like this book. I loved the main male character, I loved the setting and the dystopian world. My main grip is the lead female character. Whiney, won’t listen to a damn thing, and CONSTANTLY getting into life threatening or dangerous situations all because she can listen and has a big mouth. It’s not cute and it was incredibly hard to read. If you like that type of character though it’s a great book with an interesting storyline.

Cosa ho appena letto?!

omg the ending

The thing that I liked most of all the book, by far, is the setting. Worldbuilding is full-bodied and vivid. We are in a post-economic collapse society, poverty is rampant and only a select few live well if not normally.
The suffering, the trudging every day, the filth, the greyness, everything stands out as if there were a lighthouse aimed at.
Everything has the taste of District 12 on one side and District 1 on the other.

And then there are the characters.
If I tell you that they are very well characterized, do you believe me? Well, yes, okay, not all the characters are very well characterized, vampires are. And also the villains. Reyna, on the other hand... oh well, you know that I'm almost never a fan of heroines.
Let's start with the vampires: they are a bit modernized in their ability to get out in the sunlight, but at the same time they maintain the lust and blood-thirst typical of old horror films. Men or women do not care, they crave blood and living in a civilized society does not make them more human. I must say that the two villains are very creepy.
As for Beckham, he is beautiful and damned. He is different, but I can not tell you how.

The relationship between the two protagonists reminded me a lot of the manga "Midnight Secretary" and I liked it a lot because, even if that comic is the trash fair, it always manages to involve me.
And "Blood Type" was not different. It involved me from beginning to end, thanks to a very simple and super smooth style.

What did not convince me - beyond the protagonist who is a bit Tris in "Insurgent" - is only a scene towards the end but is forgotten in a hurry thanks to the cliffhanger that, fortunately, removes the effect "Twilight" to the whole thing (not that I have anything against Twilight, I continue to adore him like the first time, but here he was not there).

Can't wait to read this, why? Because it most definitely is sexy twilight/vampire academy, and tbh I need my some new adult paranormal romance in my life. I need to read trash sometimes - and I have a feeling this is going to be EXCEPTIONAL TRASH.

UPDATE - 18/10/18

Wow. Disappointed, to say the least, my friends. I wanted trash, and whilst it was somewhat trashy I feel like it was just a bit ... odd. The whole book was off to me, so many things happened and yet nothing happened at the same time? Then the series is going to continue with this rebellion? Very confusing. I think that the questions that were present for basically all of the book were answered too late, some things felt just unnecessary, and honestly, it was kind of abusive? Like, I really didn't understand the relationship between Beckham and Reyna. I had dreams for this book, dreams of it being sexy trash and that was not what I got. Oh well.

I enjoyed the twist on this vampire tale. I liked the premise of vampires becoming somewhat more refined and using blood matches who willing provide the blood and what the human/vampire relations are like. You could never be sure who was friend or foe with these characters, but the storyline kept me intrigued and definitely wanting to see what happens next.

It has been a while since I've read a good vampire book. The last time I really got into one was The Last Vampire series by Christopher Pike and I read that when I was in high school. I haven't found a series that I've wanted to read...until now.

When I started reading Blood Type I wasn't sure what to expect. Knowing the types of books K.A. Linde writes I knew that there would still be a fair amount of angst in the book. I was unsure of what would happen in the in-between. Would I like the rest of the story?

Well I read a preview chapter that she posted a while back and from that one chapter, I was hooked. I wanted to know more about this girl, Reyna. I wanted to know more about why she was doing what she was doing. Then we met Beckham. And the angst started and not only was I already hooked, now I was salivating to get through each chapter.

The story is well-paced and the characters are thought out. I love Reyna and her spunk and I love Beckham and all his broodiness. The story line kept me invested in the characters and in the story. And when the end came...it hit me like a bolt of lightning! I could not believe that's where it ended. And now, I am so anxious for the next book!!

K.A. Linde did a great job with this first book. I am waiting on pins and needles for the next book and where she is going to take this story and these characters.

PSRC2020 prompt #8 "a book with an upside down image on the cover"

I enjoyed this book and it was the first one I have picked up from this author. I found the story interesting and the characters were engaging...although sometimes frustrating. I am looking forward to the next book of this series to see what happens next for these two. If you're looking for a paranormal with romance and vampires, check this one out.
