adventurous challenging dark fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

The plot has potential, I'll continue the series.

This was a different take on vampires; I enjoyed it very much.

After a decade of reading books and being invariably disappointed, I have no idea how I haven’t learned and went into this with high expectations. Another unexploited plot that left me a bit underwhelmed.

There was nothing glorious about this book. Conspiracies, rebellion, alliances, blah blah blah. It was a bit of a jumbled mess and a lot of it didn’t make any sense to me - I hope it will with the next two books.

The writing style is alright. The characters are however annoying as hell. Reyna talks too much and never knows when to shut up. Beckham pretends to be someone he’s not and is moody, brooding and frankly, gets on my nerves more often than not.

It didn’t pull me in but it wasn’t outrageously bad so it’s a 3 stars.

*4.5 Stars*

The perfect mix of alpha male and PNR!

I have to admit that this was a bit of a slow start for me but I think that it was entirely my fault. It has been a while since I’ve read paranormal romance book and it took me a bit to get back into the groove. However, I pushed through and couldn’t be more happy about it. I can’t stop thinking about Reyna and Becks!

Reyna is my favorite type of heroine! She’s not afraid to do what she needs to do and she gets it done like a boss. I love how strong and independent she was even when dealing with a powerful man like Beckham. He is a true alpha male and I loved to hate him in the beginning. As the story progressed, I was rooting for him and Reyna to overcome some serious bumps in the road. There are some more bumps that they’re going to need to overcome and I can’t wait to watch them continue to fight for each other.

This is one of my favorite paranormal romance books I’ve ever read and I can’t wait to see what happens in the rest of the series. The world building was fantastic and it felt as if I was right there along with the characters.

Whooo, that ending! I can’t wait for Blood Match and Blood Cure!

Note: This book does end with a cliffhanger with two more books to follow.

Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.

the concept is good but i don't like how weak the girl for the boy.

Well I saw that coming...she couldn’t catch a break dammit. I really liked Reyna until the end. Toward the end I felt like she was whiny and extra. I hated what happened at the end and how she over reacted. I was anxious to finish this book, desperate to learn what was going on. I enjoyed the tension and enjoyed most of the characters. I haven’t read a good paranormal in a long time. Now do I start the next book or wait to the final book comes out...decisions decisions. 4 Stars!

Blood Type is the first book in the Blood Type trilogy. This trilogy is featured around one couple…Beckham and Reyna. This is a trilogy I have had my eye on for quite some time, and unfortunately I have had to wait this long to read it, mostly because I wanted to wait until I had ALL three books because the first two books end in cliffhangers so its good to note that if you don’t have all three books and prefer to wait for all three.

Our story first starts with Blood Type this is a story that begins with our heroine. The vampires have become known to the human world, and there was a period of economic fallout and now vampires control everything and the majority of human kind live in poverty. Reyna, our heroine, has only her two brothers left, and they are everything to her. They are both working double shifts at a factory to make ends meet and they don’t exactly live in a good part of town. Reyna has tried to find a good job somewhere, but there are none available. But there is one option, an option her brothers will be so furious at her for doing….become a blood donor for vampires. When she enters the facility and begins her testing, she is offered a rollout that is very new, where it would offer better benefits, double the pay but it would be a more permanent situation. So she agrees, to it and meets the vampire she will be providing for…Beckham. At first, he is closed off and a bit rude. But he doesn’t feed off her like she expects him to, he gives her a nice place to live with him, a new wardrobe and an unlimited credit card and a cell phone. She starts to realize that he is one of the good ones out there.

“Everyone is corrupt. Everyone is broken.”
“I’m not,” she whispered.
“Oh Little One, this world will kill the goodness left within your beating heart.”
“But it will not break me.”
“No,” he agreed. He leaned his head into her hair and drew a deep breath. “I will do that.”

Reyna is able to visit with her brothers and let them know what is going on and even though they are furious, they are also understanding and why she felt she had no choice. But when she goes to a corporate meeting with Beckham and meet his boss and other associates, she starts to realize how kind Beckham really is because she sees how the other vamps treat their “humans” and it’s no more than slavery. But Beckham leaves her freedom for the most part and has yet to feed off of her but there are some characteristics about Beckham that don’t add up and she wants to know more about him. She feels a strong intensity to Beckham and doesn’t know what she is truly feeling.

Her feeling are tested for him when he takes her out in the city, to let her get some shots with her new camera (that he bought for her) and she begins to realize the real truth behind the man that hides beneath a mask of deception. She learns that while he may be working at the top in Visage, he is also working to bring it down and bring more equality and safety to humans too. But she also realizes how powerful their connection is when the moment arrives and they kiss and touch and sizzle each other but she learns that he has a girlfriend and refuses to be played. But through a set of circumstances, she learns who this “girlfriend” really is and that not everything is as it seems. She also learns why her blood type is so unique and causes a dangerous reaction with Beckham, a reaction that will plunge her into darkness, betrayed and tossed in the hands of a vampire more dangerous than she ever comprehended…

Blood Type is one of those stories that I was sucked right into and boy this world….I became so addicted. I really love the set up of the story though, so I was intrigued to see where K.A. Linde would take this world that she created and boy she threw me into a world I NEVER saw coming or expected and I love a book that can surprise me and Linde really threw me a new one with Blood Type and now I can hardly wait to grab up books 2 and 3. I am very curious about more about her Blood Type and why it causes such a reaction and I am curious about the “Rebellion” of Elle. I have a feeling this is just the beginning, just the appetizer of what is going to become more intense and I am ALL in.

She wanted more. She craved him like an addict craved the next hit. She didn’t know what he did to her, but when they got like this, she didn’t care. It didn’t matter how infuriating he was, she was caught up in the whirlwind of their desires.

The romance that develops between Beckham and Reyna is pretty intense. At first, they have this enemies to lovers trope, where they are obviously enemies. Because vampires are not looking highly upon by human, which makes sense and considering they are living in luxury while humans are barely surviving and many are destitute. But Reyna is not like other humans, she doesn’t judge vampires based on some bad apples, she sees the good in Beckham and even though he has a dark past, she doesn’t judge him for his past actions, only on the person he has become.

“She could tell he was fighting with his inner demons, and she felt horrible but she hoped they won out. She wanted him so desperately.”

We do have some scary main villains and boy they crack a punch in this book. They are the type of villains that will give you the shivers and might give you a nightmare or two. ( I know because I got one last night) The way that K.A. Linde wrote this book was so intense and full of intrigue and suspense that you never knew what she would be throwing at you next.

The ending was pretty fantastic, and yes I know it ends up in a cliffhanger, but even though I was still expecting it, it still threw me a curveball and yeah I wanted to just SCREAM because it was so dang good and leaves you hanging.

I received this book for free from Tour Group in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Blood Type introduces us to Reyna Carpenter. A young woman from the poor side of town who sees the only opportunity to help herself and her brothers is to go to work for a company that offers people with blood type matches to vampires. Reyna comes in at an opportune time. They are starting a new program where the blood escort is a permanent pair with the vampire instead of rotating out every few months. It is double the pay and Reyna can't pass that up. She just happens to be a blood match to one of the higher executives of Visage.

Reyna is young and is not as aware of what goes on in the city. So when her new boss moves her into his penthouse, then leaves her on her own, Reyna starts finding her way around the city. Beckham is Reyna's boss, but she is confused because he doesn't seem to want to feed off of her, and that is what she is there for. He is so hot and cold he confuses Reyna. He acts like he wants her, but then treats her so distantly. Then I find I'm reading what is turning out to be a love triangle. The emotional ups and downs that come with a love triangle can be quite trying.

There is a lot of back and forth throughout the book. We take one step forward and two steps back. Just when we think we are going to have Reyna and Becks get together or that they are going to make progress something goes wrong.

Thankfully the story does not completely revolve around the romance. There is the whole conspiracy Visage is planning and the danger they pose. There are plot twists that I didn't see coming and the ending totally took me by surprise! It kind of ends with a cliff hanger. Also not one of my favorite things. However, I am VERY anxious to see what happens in this world and with Reyna and Beckham. Just when things seem complicated, they become even MORE complicated!

Blood Type's world and challenges keep you reading wanting to know more. Especially when you get hit with one of the many surprises. It was an enjoyable read and can't wait for Blood Match for more!

Blood Type

Blood Type Excerpt

That was the moment Beckham appeared in the doorway like a storm cloud.
Reyna straightened in her seat at the expression on his face. He walked across the room like a tightly coiled spring ready to explode.
“Ah Beckham, there you are,” Harrington said.
“Excuse me, William. I need to speak with Reyna. Alone.”
She hastened out of her seat and followed him around the corner. He tugged her straight through the kitchens, out the back door, down a corridor, and into a dead end. Then her back was slammed against the brick wall. His fist connected with the wall behind her, and she felt the wall shudder. Debris floated onto her shoulders.
“You left,” he growled.
“I . . .”
“No.” He pressed his finger to her lips roughly. She stopped breathing and just stared up into his eyes as dark as night. Her body trembled under the feral stare. “You left without me.”
The silence was weighted. All she could do was sit with their bodies nearly touching. His finger on her mouth. Her mind wandering to hellacious places.
“You are my subject. Can you imagine what it was like when I found you missing? When you turned up with three of my kind?” She shook her head minutely. He bared his teeth to her, and she shrank back. “These are meant to drink your blood. To drink you dry until there is nothing left of your body but a dry corpse. We are killers. We don’t hesitate. Just because we’re wearing suits and seem more like you . . . does not mean we are like you. We are not like you. They especially are not like you. The only way you get to the top of Visage is to be fucking ruthless, Reyna. Do you understand?”
“You’re . . . scaring me,” she whispered.
“Good.”
