3.39 AVERAGE

I started this book at 5 stars. As I read I went down to a 4 and then ended with a 3. Maybe a 3.5. Blood Type and the way the vampires survive and the way the world is portrayed is interesting. It may be fantasy/paranormal/etc but I think it has some pretty relevant topics and situations in the world we live in today.

Blood Type is told from Reyna's point of view. As a human she is a little naive to world the vampires and what Visage is all about. This POV keeps you guessing on what is really going on behind the scenes; This is what kept me so engaged while reading. What started to lose me was the lack of chemistry between Reyna and Beckham. Sometimes I felt it and was like, "YES! Here we go! Let's do the damn thing." Then Beckham would push her away and I'm left feeling unsatisfied with their connection. It wasn't just about being angsty or needing them to do the dirty on every surface of his penthouse. It was more about wanting to feel that deep love that I think KA Linde wants us to feel.

I will say that after what happened in the last 2 chapters, I will definitely be reading the second book. I hope that we get more answers and maybe that will explain a little more about Visage, Elle, and give Reyna and Beckham a chance to really show us what they are made of.

I just finished this book, and I couldn't wait to rush on here to spread the word about it! This book was fantastic!! KA Linde has a way with words. She had me sympathizing with Beckham from the get go. It was a little predictable, but I still cannot wait for the next installment in this strange, yet exciting dystopian paranormal world.

descriptionHe was plainly terrifying to behold, but also…gorgeous. Horrifyingly beautiful.

Did someone say VAMPIRES?! They've been my weakness since 2009 when I picked up Twilight! *Don't judge*

It's been a few days since I finished it and GAHHH!!! It took me one day, legit, ONE DAY to finish this book and it feels like AGES since I've done something like this.
In the world created by Linde, Vampires rule and control and the Humans are living in poverty, barely making ends meet.

Living in a run-down neighbourhood, Reyna Carpenter needs money to help her two brothers out, so she does the one thing that she knows her brother will hate —signing up to be a blood escort at Visage, the largest corporation run by vampires, that places humans with vampires according to their blood type for them to feed off.
What Reyna didn't expect was to be paired with Beckham Anderson, a powerful vampire and a top executive member of Visage.

Beckham Anderson, he is one of those characters that you would love to hate and hate to love but what I felt him was a little less than hate. It was more along the lines of dislike.
Now, he never did anything that would harm Reyna or put her in danger. He was quite the opposite of his "friends". He would run away from Reyna to protect her but somehow Reyna always found her in trouble. He controlled his innate desire as a vampire and there were points in the story where you see him give into the "human" desires only to pull back and bring his walls back up.

While I was okay with some of Beckham's decisions there some really, REALLY stupid decisions her made time and again and I really wish I could get inside the book and hit his head. *snort* Can you imagine hitting a vampire?

descriptionBeckham, your girl looks like a dream, don’t you think?” Beckham had been staring off and away at that moment, but suddenly he snapped back to attention. His eyes landed on Reyna, and everything narrowed down to him.
Only him.
“A dream. A daydream,” he agreed. “And a nightmare.”

Regardless of their push and pull Reyna and Beckham make quite the amazing pair. They just need to stop making stupid decisions. Add to this mix the multiple side characters that you WILL hate, (apart from Reyna's brothers) and a character that will take you by surprise, Blood Type was an absolute page turner for me.

To me, Linde has already proved to be amazing at writing PNR when she came out with The Ascension Series and with Blood Type, she is definitely branching out and totally nailing it.

descriptionBeckham was not a shining prince on a white horse riding in to save her. The world they lived in was not a peaceful kingdom where all worries disappeared.

The concept of Blood Type is fresh! I've never read anything that was set in such a world. There were times when I closed the book because I wanted to savour it and as freaking usual I went back to it again and again because I HAVE ZERO CONTROL!!!!

There is not a single slow moment. Honestly, there will be times like you feel the progress is slow but trust me, it's not the case.

The push and pull, the slow burn, the building of the plot and THAT FREAKING CLIFFHANGER... AHHH!!! *pulls hair out*

I'm so glad I finally got the chance to pick this one up and now my only demand or request, whatever you would like to call it (lol!) — I. WANT. BOOK. TWO!
NOW!

4 Stars!

I really wanted to enjoy this book fully but there were some inconsistencies and things that were dropped throughout. I love KA and her writing style, that is never an issue. What was was that it was set up to be like a dystopian wasteland with vampires. What I did love was that her vampires were different in a way that I loved, they had needs and they did what was needed to survive, I can respect that. I am hoping some of the issues with this book do not continue thru to the next.

I really wanted to like this but the female lead character was just so wish washy. I barely made it through the book even though I love vampire novels, despite how vibrantly the author painted the world in this novel.

Took awhile to get into this one but once I started getting into the story I couldnt put it down. Cant wait for the next one!

Love it, love it, just amazing 😁😁

Twilight anarco-capitalist AU: a prime example of a terribly written not-like-other-girls that I'm almost sure doesn't even pass the bechdel test.

Review coming soon.

This relationship was so toxic!!! The vampire love interest was a complete asshole from day one, and constantly dismissed the MC’s opinions, thoughts, and desires. Even after they got together, this didn’t really change. And he kept her in the dark about everything and then would get mad when she was confused and didn’t do what he asked (because she didn’t know what was going on!!!). Honestly, she wasn’t really much better. She seemed to always find herself in harms way because she was so naive and thoughtless. He’d tell her to be careful, not trust people, and stay with her bodyguard for protection, and then she’d gallivant off somewhere alone and end up in trouble. It started to get really frustrating to read after the third time it happened and she didn’t learn anything.

I really hated this but I kept on with it because I wanted a resolution to all the drama and bad communication. Surprise- this is the first book in a series and unlike most romances, it’s not actually a companion series. It ended on a cliffhanger 😡, so I never got the resolution I wanted, and now if I want to figure out what happened to the characters, I have to suffer through another book. That’s my own fault I guess for not looking into the series more, but I didn’t want to read the synopsis for Book 3 before I started this one because I was worried about spoilers.

It says a lot about how much I disliked this that the audiobook was only 5ish hours (I listen on 2x speed) and it still took me an entire week to trudge through. I can usually listen to 2 audiobooks of that length in one day if I don’t have other plans.
