I have read some of K.A. Linde's books (I loved the Record series) and when I saw she was writing a series set in a dark world with vampires and blood escorts, I couldn't resist it, I just knew I had to read it.
This is the first book in this series, so there's a lot of world/civilization details and I absolutely loved the world building, the descriptions, the dynamics between humans and vampires, everything was beautiful written and I could actually picture this unique world and its civilization in my head.
Vampires are ruling the world while most humans are extremely poor and struggle to survive, Reyna is 21 years old, she can't get a job because she has no college education and she can't go back to college because she doesn't have the money for it. I think the best word to define Reyna is brave. She's definitely very brave, she feels like a burden to her brothers, who work endless shifts so they can survive as a family, but they're scrambling and Reyna knows it and for her brother's sake she sacrifices herself... by getting a new job as a blood escort.
Beckham is a rich, big, brooding, hot, mysterious vampire, a top executive in Visage, the vampire company that pairs vampires to human blood escorts with the same blood type. Visage puts Reyna with Beckham and everything in her world changes. She has money, some freedom but she's now moving in a whole different circle. A dangerous circle where trust doesn't come easy and it can be fickle...
I won't be giving away too many details, I can only say that I've read Blood Type in one sitting, I was immersed in this complex world and invested in Reyna and Beckham's relationship. The push and pull, the amazing chemistry between them, all of the secrets that Beckham was keeping just added more tension and depth to their story. Honestly, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough! And then K.A. Linde hit me with an out of this world cliffhanger that left me screaming into my kindle... I have to say there was a thing or two that did bother me near the end (specifically, Beckham's reaction to an event that led him to leave Reyna alone and Reyna's reaction to Beckham's, how can I put it without spoiling it, hmmm, momentary lapse of reason - you'll get it if you read the book), and that made me lower the rating from 5/5 to 4/5 stars.
I highly recommend this stunning beginning to the Blood Type series and I can't wait to get my hands on Blood Match because I'm dying to know what happens next!

My Rating : 3🌟
Well.. I thought this would be a standalone, but I was wrong! This Definitely had the tension and the chemistry at times, but I don't find the allure. Maybe if I read the next books, I might, but I don't think I want to continue the book 🤔🤔

Started this book without reading the blurb and I had no idea beyond this being a vampire romance book,
and it really was a surprise, just because I've been in a slump and I'm binge reading this series right now.
So far, I've started to like this new world and the concept was clear in most points.
The characters, however I've mixed feelings for them,
Beckham and Reyna. I was both liking them and sometimes just felt annoyed for Reyna acting so clingy and Beckham's arrogance and asshole behavior all the time. But also there was this mystery about their past and all the secrets that made me want to read more and MORE.
And I'm finding out those as I already started reading the 2nd one, Blood Match. Because it becomes rather interesting towards the ending (no spoilers of course).
Hope I enjoy the other two better than this one.
Ratings: 3.5 ⭐
So I'm gonna do this with the shortest review and I'm off to reading again.

4.5 Stars not a flat 4 Stars SO I was missing the actual connection/chemistry between Beckham and Reyna throughout most of the book. Reyna was a bit whinny even though she volunteered for service. And Beckham was pretty much a douche for most of the story. With all that being said I still NEED to get my hands on the next book!! I need to know what happens and why things are happening!!

Without giving too much away….Reyna feels like she has no other options left in terms of making money to help assist her and her two brothers, Brian and Drew. So she turns to Visage to become a blood escort. Even though she feels like doing this is the only way, she is still scared and a little hesitant because of how her brothers might react to the news. Vampires seem to be the more dominant/ superior species at the moment, while a huge chunk of the human population is poor and barely making enough to sustain themselves. There are quite a few prejudices between the humans and vampires. Each one seems to think they’re better than the other. And not many people want to help bridge the gap that divides them.
Reyna is the curious sort, she loves to ask questions and it’s hard for her to just sit back and no nothing when she believes someone needs help or some action needs to takes place.
Her life may seem like a fairytale once she gets a permanent position with Beckham Anderson, one of the top vampires at Visage, but appearances can oftentimes be deceiving. He is serious, very handsome, dedicated to his work, and hates people asking questions. Reyna coming into his life was not something he asked for, but he’ll make it work. They don’t make the greatest first impression though. Especially where Beckham is concerned…
“The only thing that was really very clear was that Beckham Anderson was a complete and total asshole.”
Okay what else do I have to say about Blood Type...Well I feel like no matter what I say I won’t be able to do this book review justice. This book too me by surprise. It felt like one of those drinks a bartender makes that is delicious from the first sip, but it doesn’t really hit you until you start to move.
I have read other books by K.A. Linde, but they were all contemporary romance stories with tons of angst and drama thrown in. Which I loved. But this book is a paranormal romance and I was a little skeptical. I should not have been. It was just the right read for me. Even if this is your first time venturing into the paranormal world, Blood Type would be a great place to start. The story was addicting. I could have finished the whole thing in 24 hours, but I dragged it out, just so I could make the story last a little bit longer. This book did end on a cliffhanger, but luckily book 2, Blood Match releases June 26, 2018!

Very enjoyable.
I haven’t read anything by this author since the “Off the Record” series— which I throughly enjoyed— when I stumbled on this. I love vampire stories but find most are YA and well... I’m not so... but this was an amazing twist and turns read. While I found Reyna a bit immature the circumstances led her down an emotionally insecure pathway so I’ll give her a bit of leeway. Hopefully Book 2 will solve some of those problems because Becks said “I’ll always find you.” Now her life depends on just that fact.
Impatiently waiting..... for book 2 😜

Blood Type by K. A Linde is the first book in the Blood Type series. I thought it was a great start to the series and I am looking forward to delve further into the world the author created. I found the author’s perspective of the vampire world unique and addictive.
In this world vampires rule and are affluent while humans live in constant state of poverty and fighting hard to survive. Corruption was rampant among the vampire hierarchy and they rule the human population with a heavy hand.
The story introduced Reyna Carpenter one of the many humans struggling to make ends meet. She dreams of going to college but does not have the means to do so. Unable to get a job, she depends on her brothers to support her. Her brothers are struggling as well and so she felt she had no choice but to sign to work for Visage to become a blood escort. Being a blood escort meant temporary placement with a vampire who will feed on her whenever he desired. However, on entering the program she was selected for a special project where she would be permanently paired with a vampire. She would be paired with the powerful and enigmatic Beckham Anderson.
Reyna found herself in a situation, which she did not understand and so she had a lot of questions. However, there were times I wished she would exercise wisdom and hold her tongue. I found her actions somewhat annoying and I lauded Beckham for his patience. Despite this I admired her strength and caring attitude.
There was more to Beckham than meets the eye. His character was shrouded in secrecy. I admired his self-control, which came under threat when Reyna entered his life. Figuring out his agenda proved a challenge, however as the story progressed his motives were revealed.
There was a lot happening in the story to keep me on my toes. There were quite a few twists, some of which I saw coming and some that bowled me over.
The romance between Beckham and Reyna took a while to build up. There was a lot of push and pull that I began wondering if they would get together.
This installment left me with several unanswered questions, which will more than likely be addressed in the sequels.
Conclusion/Recommendation
I enjoyed this installment and I am looking forward to picking up the next book. I would definitely recommend this to fans of paranormal romance.
Narration
Caitlin Elizabeth did an okay job with the narration. It was my first time listening to her. The voices were not distinguishable, except for the character with the French accent. I found her voice to be pleasant, which made it easy to listen to the book.

ed to get closer and closer with no HEA in sight...it ends in a cliffhanger.
To be honest, I do not know yet if I’ll get books 2 and 3 (June and August). I’m kind of rooting for Beckham (even though his confessions at the end are a bit far fetched) to find his happy ending, don’t know if I like Reyna enough to continue reading this series.
