Love the vampires, and story is really interesting.

Oh my god. I did not want to put this book down.
I love Reyna and Beckham and the dynamics between them.
One of the things that really set me to read this one, was that it is a vampire book. Growing up with Buffy and the Twilight series, there has always been a love for vampires. This book (and probably whole series) was absolutely amazing.
I have loved every piece of writing I've read from K.A Linde, she hasn't disappointed me.

Definitely recommend, but please please please read the trigger/content warning. There are some very heavy parts of the story.

Wow. So I only have about five books in my list that are rated one star’s and this one definitely deserve to be placed on number six. Wow it was so bad. I look at all of the good reviews and I’m just like how could you like this monstrosity of a book. LIKE WHATTTT

I contemplated giving this book two stars because I enjoyed reading this . But the only reason I enjoyed reading this book was because I laughed so much at how poorly written this book was. Our main character is so stupid. She is an entirely accurate personification of stupidity. I can’t even count them out at times during this book that I said “bitch whattt???” or “uve got to be fucking kidding me” or “wow you tried it”. I don’t even need to go into detail because I know whenever I think back to this book I will just start laughing. The way I read this book and the way the scenes played out in my head reminded me of like a parody because there were no way that this could be taken seriously.

I think Reyna was the major fuck up in this book even though everything else is terrible too she was just the main downfall of this book. She was just so dumb and had no respect for herself at all. Everett was definitely right when he said that she has Stockholm syndrome because she ran back to Beckham no matter how many times he degraded her or left her or disrespected her. She still insisted that she loved him and forgot about everything. And can we just talk about the fact that she pushed under the rug every bad thing that happened to her the second Beckham I looked her away. I mean she almost got raped because Beckham left her alone and then he left her alone again in the streets and of course her next thought is “Come back to me”.....are you serious???

this book was literally had me ctfu the whole time...

•“Reyna’s mouth hung open. Holy shit! He had just killed for her. She couldn’t comprehend it.”
-bitch what. dont try to romanticize this.

•“He had driven all the way out to the warehouses for…her?”
really bitch, really.... he just cursed you out two seconds ago like he owned you

•“Do you see what you do to me? Taste me,” she demanded. He slid the finger into his mouth and sucked her. “That’s yours.”
wow. I’m surprised this line isn’t in more books. I don’t know whether to be like “otayy Reynaa“ Or “ha you tried it bitch “.

•“Beckham gave Penelope a pointed look, but she just smiled and touched his shoulder playfully. “I am still invited, right?”
DAYUM BECKHAM...two girls at the same time playa.

•”“Stay back, Reyna. I can’t worry about both of you right now.”
”Come back to me”
I really cant with this girl...

•“Her home was with Beckham and he was finally choosing her.
“Okay,” she whispered.”
where is your self-worth? I can’t even with you Reyna. you seriously have a problem…

•“I am capable of making good decisions, and Beckham is one.”
BITCH WHERE

•“It was nice and made her sigh. She knew everything wasn’t right with the world, but the here and now was too wonderful not to relish in”
please tell me what is nice about her situation right now

•“Rowland reached down and retrieved a large black camera out of a bag. “Can you explain this?”
“That’s my camera!” she cried. She couldn’t help herself. How had he gotten her camera?
“Well, there’s her admission,” Rowland drawled.”
really? she’s so dumb!!!!!

•“I hate to say this, Reyna. I really do. But have you considered the fact that you have Stockholm Syndrome?”
Reyna’s mouth dropped open”
I hate to say this too, Reyna, (not really) but you really do. You don’t love him. You keep running back to him after he keeps hurting you. And using you. Like sis please stop. Now you finally have a diagnosis, you’re welcome.

•“The person who stepped into the room made her start. She never would have guessed.
“Mr. Harrington?”
Of course she never would’ve guessed because she only has about 4 brain cells. You’re dumb. Everyone else reading the book guessed it like 400 pages ago. Obviously you’re the blood type he’s looking for dummy

No need to go on further. I think you get the picture of stupidity that this book painted.

This was odd. It was presented as a prequel to The Wren in the Oak Library, but I only recognized one or two names. It felt like every decision Reyna made was almost immediately reversed, especially towards the end of the novel. She was also very easily tricked or manipulated into situations she didn’t or couldn’t understand. Even though that aspect was really hard to get through, I was interested in the mystery, which is why I finished the book.

A truly terrible story. The main characters are the most toxic I've read about in awhile. I hate read my way through this. There was a scene at the end that would have had me noping out had it been earlier on. Gross.

Thissssss, I did not expect to LOVE this as much as I did!  Paranormal Romance is not usually my thing, but K.A. Linde just has a way of making me love this world!  The relationship that builds between Beckham and Reyna has you absolutely on edge the entire book. Beckham is so hot and cold you never know which side of him you’re going to get (and neither does Reyna!) It was a very character driven story for book one with some exciting plot points throughout but for the story it makes sense to really have an in depth grasp on how these two’s relationship starts, evolves and explodes!  I was able to predict a lot of what happened in the end, but even so that cliffhanger was DIABOLICAL with a betrayal that absolutely knifed my heart wide open 😮‍💨

So much so, that while my plan was to wait for October to read book 2 when it is being republished (new name, new cover) I 100% cannot and WILL BE diving into the audiobook (available on Audible!) to continue the story because I can’t not know what happens until October 🤪
