The Spirit Bares Its Teeth is a Victorian era, historical fantasy horror book that is uncomfortable, heartbreaking, violent, raw, and visceral. The characters are fully fleshed out and complex and you both ache and root them on as they face the horrors being enacted at Braxton's Finishing School and Sanitorium.
It just barely brushes the surface into the medical horrors minorities have suffered throughout history. But what it does touch on is ugly, violent, triggering, and enraging. So please make sure to read the author's note/warning at the beginning of the book before you read.
