This is a really tough read … I really enjoy the compilation of excerpts from true crime books, police reports, etc. I think they are used really well. There are some really meaty topics and I think this will make a great book club book.

This book had me spinning!! It's been on my mind long after...So I found myself going back to read the ending several times. And is it me or did the baby brother "Junior" materialize out of thin air. I feel so betrayed...Like this was a wild ride, but a very good read! Kudos to Tiffany D. Jackson!!! Our book club meeting for this month is going to be LIT! LIT!

Maty Addison has spent most of her life in jail for a crime she allegedly committed at the age of 9. Now, Mary just turned 16 and living in a group home her life takes another turn. The story lives an emotional and haunting imprint.

The book Allegedly by Tiffany D. Jackson is a young adult novel about a teenage girl named Mary B. Addison who was convicted of killing a baby when she was nine years old. The story follows Mary as she tries to navigate her life as a convicted murderer and deal with the abuse she faced while in the group home system. Throughout the book, Mary's story is interwoven with themes of race, class, and mental illness. As she tries to clear her name and prove her innocence, Mary must confront the truth about what really happened on the night of the baby's death and the secrets that have been hidden from her for years. In the end, Mary must decide whether to continue living a lie or to risk everything to tell the truth and reclaim her life.

This is an excellent book with excellent narration. It really has some excellent character development and heartwarming examples of people who reach out to Mary and treat her with compassion. I highly recommend it.

Idk whether to scream or cry right now!!! I think I’ll just settle for both because what was this ending! Omg this story was so sad and interesting and I was glued. When i took the day to do other activities besides reading I couldn’t stop thinking about getting back home to read and finish this book because I was so consumed with Mary and her story. And now I’m just staring at this book like what the heck!!! No way Ms. Jackson drops this knowledge and basically rides off into the sunset…
So my rating is 4 because while this was an amazing read, like hands down captivating, a page turner and I fell in love with the MC oddly considering. I am just not happy with this ending and I feel like something else needs to be said 🤷🏾‍♀️.
