I have reading this series to my kids before bed. It is such a sweet collection about a pig and some people who live on deckawoo drive. I highly suggest it for anyone who loves a good sweet story.

It's Halloween, and Mrs. Watson is determined to create the perfect porcine costume for Mercy.
Mercy, not overly excited by the costume but delighted to trick or treat, runs into some hijinks on their trip to Eugenia and Baby's house. General Washington, Eugenia's cat, gets chased and runs up a tree; the fire department comes to rescue him, albeit they're confused about how General Washington is stuck in a tree. And the story ends with buttery toast for all—a cute story with delightful illustrations.

Another book my daughter really enjoyed reading. She is in 2nd grade, and the series seems to fit well for that age and rading level.

My 6 year old's rating and review.

"It was funny how Mercy Watson was in a costume and how she thought there would be toast in the candy bowl!"

Mercy Watson is absolutely delightful! I giggled over Mercy Watson Goes for a Ride, and this one was just as funny. Chris Van Dusen's illustrations are a hoot (pig in a princess costume) and of course Mercy is up for any and all shenanigans as long as they involved buttered toast. A good chapter book series for beginning readers.
