this was so unserious and sooo bad

Aaron & Patience: They Could Have Been Great, If Not For His Attitude. Just too Much Going On Here.

Patience and Aaron met when they were very young. Their fathers were business partners and they have always been drawn to each other. Fast forward a few years later, as adults, they run into each other again and develop a romance. However, secrets are kept. Aaron was betrothed to another, and Patience was pregnant with his twins. Misunderstandings occur and Patience ends up raising Aaron's children for six years alone. By happenstance, they find each other again and Aaron is blown away by Patience's deceit concerning his children. He goes to sue for full custody... unless Patience agrees to marry him. she reluctantly agrees.

This story had so much potential. I loved the fact that this was an interracial couple, and the author didn't hit us over the head with that fact nor did she make a big deal about it. It is what it is. For that, its commendable and why I gave it a two-star rating instead of a one. Nevertheless, there was a lot wrong with this story and the plot execution. In short, there was just too much going on at one time. Too much as in too many tropes in one book for me.

This book contained all the elements of what makes an awesome novel, but the problem is that they were all compiled together in one book, making it a sloppy mess.

This one book contained the following tropes:

"Grumpy/Sunshine Hero"
"Strong FMC"
"BDSM"
"Secret Baby"
"Second Chance"
"Stalker"
"Marriage of Convenience"
"Paranormal/Supernatural" Element

Aaron was for all intents and purposes an asshole. He was just mean. for no reason, this man had the biggest chip on his shoulders and wouldn't even soften for his children. While I love a possessive hero, it was as if he owned Patience and his kids. Not because he wanted them but because he felt they were "owed" to him. He never softened towards his wife. In fact, the opening scene with him and Patience was a little over the top. that should have been my first warning but I pressed on. I should have followed my instinct.

This may appeal to lovers of interracial romance. It does a good job of not being offensive like some other books I've read but it just didn't do it for me.

Happy reading!

I loved this read. The first few pages are fire. I would read this again. This read is intense and fiery.

One of my favorite tropes

One of my favorite tropes is secret children, this book did not do it for me. First of all the sex scenes were too violent and definitely borderline SA, especially the first one. Alpha does not mean a-hole to literally everyone. I don't understand how Aaron can have all of this positive light around him and "fairies" while simultaneously doing the effed up stuff that he does. There's too much violence for me the romance isn't really doing it for me, there's a lot of questionable consent going on in this book. I don't think I'll read anything else by this author. I managed to get through this one pretty quickly, but that's partially because at some point I just started skimming over / skipping all of the "erotic" scenes. Also there are definitely parts of this book that felt rushed. For example, us not getting to actually see Aaron meet the children for the first time we just hear a sort of retelling of it from Patience's point of view. And the supernatural stuff in this seemed really random. Anyway, I wouldn't really recommend this book to friends unless I know that they're specifically into the stuff about this book that I did not like.

The best alpha, morally grey, I hate literally everyone and everything grump I've read so far.
The female ♥ interest is a stunning black librarian so
dark medium-paced

In this story our FMC and MMC met when they were teens, reconnect through her dad when they are older and form a relationship. It seems to be going well until his fiance shows up at their door. When she tells the fiance to to the MMC that she is pregnant, she is turned away saying he wants nothing to do with her. When they run into each other 6 years later he realized that her twins are his. He tells her - marry me or give up custody. As they live together, their passion comes back showing they were always meant to be. Except she has a stalker that could ruin their happy ever after.

3⭐️ average read with some heavier topics that are briefly touched on. Aaron is very alpha male, so if that’s not your thing, don’t read. Major spice.

Haven’t heard this term before… ‘the weeping of my nether lips’

I will admit in the beginning I hated it because of how controlling he was. But as I read on I started to love the characters. Yes in the beginning A was an asshole to P but as the story went on he started to soften up. He realized that if he didn't change then he was going to lose her. As with most books like this the guy is an asshole in the beginning but then shows his soft side only to his girl and family.
