Wow, what a great story. Aaron and Patience story was a good one. It was a romance with supernatural elements.

While I liked the story as a whole because it has one of my favorite tropes, I found Aaron to be so alpha that it bordered on abusive. I couldn't rock with that. Despite the hero being an alphahole I loved the story. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

Where do I begin? The synopsis of this book pulled me in. I can wholeheartedly admit that - the premise of this story was enough to grab my attention and hold it. However, this story is the typical case of "amazing premise, lackluster execution." The premise is great but the execution leaves a LOT to be desired, unfortunately. I went into this one with high hopes and expectations as I've seen nothing but high praise of this author and this book, in particular.
Unfortunately, this story is downright boring. Boring. The characters aren't compelling; their voices aren't interesting. There's nothing exciting about this book. I attempted to force myself to finish this one since I paid my hard-earned money for it. Alas, that didn't work and I ended up having to DNF it well before 30%, which was completely unplanned on my part. There's nothing amazing or unique about Patience, and the main love interest, Aaron, isn't likable either. Look, I don't mind the overbearing, heavy-handed love interest who forces himself and his love onto the female main character. I honestly and truly don't. If it's written well, then he could have my heart. However, Aaron has no redeemable qualities whatsoever. There's a way of writing characters like Aaron while still making him endearing to the audience, while still allowing the audience the chance to root for him despite whatever flaws he may have. Patience had no voice. Her name is the epitome of ironic as you certainly need to have a lot of patience to accept her. I'm not sure if that aspect of her character changed by the end of the book, but she had no voice when it counted. Not with her father and not with Aaron. Again, there are ways to write characters like her without making them dull and bland.
Besides the main characters (and their relationship lbr) being a snooze fest, the whiplash from flashback to present day is .. something. Not only that, but it's frankly confusing. The way this story is written will confuse you if you're not reading it very carefully as the author doesn't make a distinction between what scene is a flashback and what scene is happening in the present day. The only way I was able to figure it out is if the twins are present. If the twins are present, then it's present day. If not, then it's a flashback. Which I suspect will get even more confusing further into the book if there's a present day scene that makes no mention of the twins or if they're not present at all.
I took pity and gave this one at least 2 stars, and that's because I can honestly say this author doesn't lack talent. Her writing is fine and it seemed structured and well-organized. There weren't a ton of misspelled words and grammatical errors. It was great in that sense, but the story wasn't interesting enough to make me keep going. However, I also bought another book of hers and I'm going to try to read that one and hope I fare better. Hopefully, I have better luck with that one because this one .. is not it.
ETA: Also, there was the supernatural aspect thing that was thrown in there randomly that I didn't know how to make sense of. So, on top of Aaron being this a**wipe, he can see spirits, too? Wow.

not a fan of the male main character and that makes the rest of the book not as good. the kids are adorable, but i wasn’t that invested in the relationship between the main characters.
There were moments that I enjoyed but this was overall an abusive relationship. Patience has children, twins, who were fathered by Aaron. She never told him because of a misunderstanding with his fiancee. He was engaged, a business arrangement, but he still cheated on her. Patience just ignores the red flag in the past and in the present. Aaron is a stubborn and hard-to-read human that it seems Patience can decipher. He forces her into marriage so that he doesn't lose his kids and her.
This was all so alpha male that it had me pausing multiple times to determine if I should continue reading it. Aaron didn't really change much for me and Patience fell head over heels in love with that. There was also the ghost woman, Emma, who guided him and helped him find Patience when she had been kidnapped.

Aaron is a complete asshole. The dialogue is horrible. I only made it six chapters in before I decided to toss it.
DNF. Had good potential but the author failed to provide enough context/depth to the characters. Everything moved so quickly I couldn’t get into it.
Another amazing read. This is Aaron and Patience's story. This one has some secrets. We also get to see more deeply into the family background of the Townsends' . The one thread that seems apparent is that when these Townsend men love, they love hard and their OTT alpha protective instincts are in full effect when it comes to their women. Filled with hot sex scenes, betrayal, action, and a love that transcends adversity, made for an enjoyable read. I thoroughly loved this one. 4 stars!!!
