This is a great read. I knew about the Tate murder and the Manson family but didn't realise just how crazy the "family" was or the extent of Manson's influence on his followers. I found myself googling a lot of the time to find out more about what happened to some of the characters after the book ends. I highly recommend this book if you are a fan of modern history and Hollywood noir tales.

Very interesting but wanted to read more about the manson family themselves- like how he was able to control the members and generally more about the dynamics within the family. At points it was very detailed, especially with the trial. It was a bit tiring to read then. Overall though, I can see why this is the #1 bestselling true crime book. Vincent Bugliosi was a great lawyer and writer.

This book should be called Vincent Bugliosi thinks Vincent Bugliosi did a bang up job.

Extremely informative, and detailed, and horrific. I really enjoyed it, but heavens, the repetition was becoming far too much. It was almost self-aggrandizing in the way that the author was connected to the crimes and that he was proud of himself for trying the case. He continuously repeated some of the same trial information and the same conversations with the convicted. I loved the detail, but I couldn't help but think that the book could have been a touch shorter.
