Harrowing but terrifically written. Just a shame each addition doesn’t include a ‘where are they now’ segment at the end.

What a trip! I have done a lot of research on the Family and the murders and it was definitely useful in reading this book. If I didn’t have the pre-existing knowledge, I do not think I would have understood, appreciated, or enjoyed this book so much. (“Manson” by Jeff Guinn is a wonderful antecedent to this book and I highly recommend you read it before this one).

This is a thorough detail of the trials and murders providing anecdotal details that richly illustrated the events and individuals concerned. It is important to know that this was written by the prosecuting attorney in the state-LaBianca trials do it is a bit bias, but Bugliosi really does a beautiful job of trying to explain all aspects of the trial.

This was a book that was extremely educational but riveting at the same time. All I wanted to do was read it and I truly was sad when it ended!

I can’t give a star rating to a book that’s primarily about facts and written by a lawyer. I will say this: it’s written in the 70s and you can definitely tell; there’s a lot of racist language that I felt uncomfortable reading.

I have always been fascinated with this "family" and murders. This is a very in depth book of information. I do wish that the images within this book weren't censored.

This was a cool read - in some ways it was a bit dated (the fact that it was written before anything came out about Roman Polanski definitely affects how he's portrayed) but I can see how this was a book that helped to launch the true crime genre.

Overall, it was well-written and fairly easy to follow. I was definitely confused about who was who among the Manson Family at times, but generally I was able to follow who the author was talking about (and this was definitely a challenge on the author's part, considering many members of the family had two or three names). Some parts dragged on, particularly the trial sequences, but that's pretty understandable.

I'm glad I finally read this - I thought it would be a much more challenging read, but everything was explained well and the book was well-paced. Parts of it (including how people are described, choices of words) are dated, but it's definitely still worth reading!
