- Didn't really know what to expect going into this book, but I really enjoyed it! It was probably my favorite read this month!
- Friends - to enemies- to lovers. Ugh, so good!
- Betrayal and plot twist EVERYWHERE
- Murder-mystery
- I really liked Roz, because I feel like we don't often see a heroine who is the dark/hard one, and I really liked her character. Pairing her with Damien was so great, because they really are opposites, but complement each other so well (if they ever trust each other that is)
- The magic system and it's link to the core religion was so well done! I really liked it, and thought that the idea of there being different saints that blessed descendants with a specific power according to their bloodline was really interesting
- The story was quite dark (the main plot is a murder-mystery), but there was a good balance of humor, found-family, and love that it never got too dark
- Story was quite fast-paced, so I never got bored, which was fabulous
- The book didn't feel like it was left on a cliff-hanger (until you read the epilogue), so you got quite a bit of closure to this book. In a way though, it makes it harder for me to see the direction they are going to go in the next book. That being said, I am still so excited for the next book!
- I've been in a bit of a reading slump, so it was really great to read this book and enjoy it so much! Would recommend!

Okay, I wanna be generous because I know this style of YA is not my cup of tea, and just because something isn’t for me doesn’t make it bad. But this book is not a murder mystery. It is an angsty teen romance with murders happening on the side. The “mystery” elements are very clearly spelled out for the main characters but they don’t see them cause they’re too busy being frenemies to lovers. There is also a LOTTTTT of summarizing events we have already seen, due to the switching POVs. I think this concept has a lot of potential, it just really needed to be cut down more.
