The setting was great but the plot and world building just felt shallow.

it took this book over 200 pages to get good, but regardless, i thoroughly enjoyed it when it eventually did

Finally, a young adult with actual young adults. It definitely had I felt like a young adult, but that voice didn't take me out of the story like it sometimes does. It needed some more world-building, especially with the rebel group and the whole ass war that we don't really know much about. And there were parts that felt kind of rushed. The first half of this book would've been a 5 honestly.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!

To begin, I would absolutely recommend this to fans of These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong and Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse.

Seven Faceless Saints is a murder mystery in an Italy inspired fantasy world that captivated me from the first chapter. I loved the way Lobb portrayed her character’s emotions especially considering their complicated relationship. Our two main characters, Roz and Damian, were childhood best friends who became estranged enemies before they must work together despite living in two different worlds as young adults. Damian is captain of the Palazzo security with strong faith that is haunted by his time in the war and Roz is blessed by the saints but has deep anger and resentment following her father’s death.

Roz is a strong heroine while Damian is a soft, sweet character and they balance each other out beautifully. I will definitely continue this series and I already cannot wait for the sequel.
