Learning at the end that all of the pages fit together into one (very beautiful) painting makes me think that this was approached as a piece of art first, and a comic second. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, although it does make the reading experience a bit chaotic. Overall, an interesting read from an Indigenous Canadian artist, but not really for me.

Beautiful narrative of true Canadiana. The entire book can be dismantled and turned into a poster that is two pieces of art in one (the graphic novel and a Haida sketch). Still, I found that Red was too one-dimensional as far as characters go.

I really loved this graphic novel. It can be a little daunting upon first read -- the gutters aren't particularly structured and the story jumps around quite a bit, but I found going with the flow and then rereading it (it's a fast read) made is super enjoyable. Not only is the story tight and succinct, but the art style makes the novel come alive. It's truly beautiful. I really enjoyed this read :)
