This gets a 4 rating because it is powerful advice. However, as a book itself it gets 2 stars. The writing is incredibly simplistic and repetitive and about halfway through, the very positive message starts to turn into blaming (very un Slight Edge like) other people for their problems and putting the 'Slight Edge' followers on a higher plane of existence. The daughter's chapter is especially bad about this. I would say read the first 6 or so chapters so you get the idea and then read the rest only if you really want to.

While some ideas and concepts are making lots of sense to me, I miss clarity throughout the book. The author is writing about the slight edge everywhere but nowhere is this term defined. Same goes for the philosophy behind this. One might get an idea of what is meant but I'm still feeling like something's missing.

It's all You-Know-Who and You-Know-What; but for someone who doesn't know the answer is still obscure.

Also some interpretations and stories feel a bit off to me. This might be my scientist brain at work but one would assume that the content applies to everybody and I'm just not buying it.

This maintains its spot as my #1 choice for life changing books.

This is one of those books that I have read multiple times. I use a different color highlighter each time I read through and each time I find something different that speaks to me. At this point I skim through reading my colorful highlighted points every 1-2 years.

The approach is simple and it is an easy read. It can be repetitive in some parts, but I suspect that is by design to drive certain points home. The steps are easy and instantly actionable. While some self-help books you have to read at the precise time in your life you need them, it's always the right time for The Slight Edge.

This is in my top pick for books that make a great gift.

Inspiring and practical information — I would recommend this to anyone looking to live a life of success and fulfillment. The points were a bit redundant, as I find with most non-fiction.

It isn't the typical self-help book. The tips are not unfeasible and they can produce some results to help out.

This book is $25 on Amazon, and all it does is edge you with the idea of this slight edge, which boils down to "small steps everyday". that's literally it. I haven't paid for this book and i want a refund. I hate this book so much, give me my time back. i hate it i hate it i hate it FUCK YOUUUUUUUU JEFF OLSON STOP SLIGHTLY EDGING ME WITH YOUR MEDIOCRE WRITING STYLE.

The idea of the slight edge is useful. There a few good points in a book, but the author keeps repeating himself over and over again. Maybe it's his way of trying to programme a reader's mind, but for me it was just boring. I don't need many stories about wise sons, frogs in a pot of cream, or flowers. One is enough to make a point.
So as for me it was an overly stretched book and I couldn't wait to finally finish it.
