The Slight Edge: Turning Simple Disciplines into Massive Success and Happiness
Jeff Olson
So good I read it for the second time in 4 years. In a word GREAT!
"Simple daily disciplines—little productive actions, repeated consistently over time—add up to the difference between failure and success."
"The Slight Edge" by Jeff Olson provides a useful template to accomplishing your aspirations. Things that are easy to do, but "just as easy not to do."
Olson details some things that I've already been doing for a few years that have been very rewarding, and he also has several other suggestions on way to tweak my current routines, as well as add some things to them to compound the benefits even more.
This book has been very impactful to me personally, and I have already put into practice several of his ideas. I'd highly recommend this book to anyone who wishes to be happier and achieve more of their goals.
Favorite Quotes:
"A positive philosophy turns into a positive attitude, which turns into positive actions, which turns into positive results, which turns into a positive lifestyle. A positive life."
"Do the thing, and you shall have the power."
"What you do today matters. What you do every day matters."
“Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success.”
"The wisest investment you can make is to invest in your own continuous learning and development."
"The most significant factors in your happiness are your actions. What you do every day."

What stood out to me was its well-structured format, making it easy to follow and absorb key lessons. One of my all time faves. Third time reading!
Must for growth.
Must for growth.
3.5 maybe?
There were useful bits here and there, but not overly remarkable. It felt like a very long blog post. It was easy to read, and probably a good book for someone who is just getting into self-development.

Clichéd, repetitive, and overly simplistic? Absolutely. Motivating? Yep.

Nothing earth shattering, but that’s the whole concept of the slight edge anyway. Overall, a useful tool for setting yourself up for success.
This book is so repetitive. If you took out all the repetition and every reference to how rich he is the book could be a pamphlet. That being said, the ideas aren’t bad.
