I quite enjoyed this. It was a bit of time since I finished book 1 of the series, so it took my a little while to get reacquainted with the characters. This is a fast pasted book, especially when listening to it.
I enjoy the voices and accents that are used though out and it probably increases my enjoyment.
I’m so intrigued on what will happen in the rest of the series.

What a great series so far! This book was even better than the first! It gives me thrown of glass vibes. I really powerful self assured, but still room for self growth FMC who is one tough cookie! I love the dual POV‘s between the FMC and MMC! That’s one of my favorites. Really interesting world building with ancient deities and their magic. I’m enjoying seeing different parts of the world and the adventure! The found family was also a nicely don in this book. The slow burn is truly a slow burn! It’s so well done. I’ll be diving in to book 3 ASAP! This is quickly becoming one of my new favorite series. Hopefully the next book is even better!

Disappointed in this sequel. Didn’t have the pacing, developed story line or even the witty banter of the first book.
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a good job.
3 ⭐️ This book is an action packed follow up to Song of the Marked. Coming back after the plot twist ending, we find Casia captured by Elander where she learns more about who she actually is and why they are now enemies.
This book is an adventure through the world S.M. Gaither created and at times the pacing was very slow for the length of the book. I found myself having a hard time getting hyped up for the ending of the book.
The romantic tension between our lovers to enemies Casia and Elander had me speed reading in the hopes we would find them back to lovers again.
The relationships between Casia and her friends went more in depth in this book and I found myself loving all her friends, especially Nessa!
The last chapter was shocking so I will be jumping into the next book to see what happens next (maybe with a little bit of a brain break first).

Another re-read! Love the continuation of the story from Song of the Marked. S.M. does a wonderful job of building up the world she has created and adding richness to that world as well as its many characters.
I love the ragtag gang of Cas’s that are the epitome of found family. They fight, they disagree, but they always come together. I also enjoyed watch Elander and Cas’s bond grow to the point of trust. It’s a slow burn but it’s so fun to watch.
The 40 percent of this book is really the story that has been building really explodes and sweeps you away. Overall, it had be diving for the next book in the series again.

Ohhhhh this book had me giggling and rushing to the end! I always struggle with self-sacrificing FMCs, but our boy is just as bent on protecting her sooooo it was bit more tolerable

Audiobook continues to be well narrated and the plot takes its time but the world building is enjoyable. The romance flourishes and the reader is kept interested enough to want to know what happens next.

A very reluctant 2.5 stars - I was disappointed by how poorly this second book did. The plot's premise from the first book just seemed so flat in this one. The characters were almost completely rewritten and had none of their previous charm or spark. Don't even get me started on Cas....she was insufferable. If she became any dumber she would have the same IQ as a rock. She just appeared to act like a spoiled child and things that were SO BLINDINGLY OBVIOUS went right over her head until the author rehashed it a few chapters later.
Looks like the end of the line for me and the Shadows and Crowns series.
Spoiler
Also, she did not act like a queen EVER. I understand she was reluctantly taking on that title for the battles etc, etc. However, her actions and impulsiveness made me think she would be the WORST QUEEN and honestly if she lived or died I couldn't care less.Looks like the end of the line for me and the Shadows and Crowns series.
