3,5/5 stars - This book was an uphill battle for me. Some threads were spun too thin and were boring to follow, whereas others felt rushed and I wanted more information but not in such a discriptive manner.

However I love Cas and Elander. I saw their past coming from a mile away but my heart did not care.

And WHAT WAS THAT CLIFFHANGER?

The first halve was really boring. I hated how Cas was whining. But the last few chapters were amazing!!!!

This is such a solid sequel because the stakes are higher, the plot is thicker, and the tension and romance are steamy

5 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What sort of woman offered a dagger to the God of Death and encouraged him to stab her with it?

“Go on,” she said.

This woman. Damn this woman.

What a splendid sequel! I could not put this book down since I started it. The plot in A Twist of the Blade takes a darker turn and I could not be more thrilled—although I am dreading for what's coming after that nerve-wrecking cliffhanger. This book crackles with magic and action.

Vengeful Gods
Warring Kingdoms
Divine Magic
Political Schemes
Shocking revelations

And a doomed love story...

They're all pawns in a dangerous game played by cruel gods and corrupt rulers.

Nothing so bright and powerful as you simply fades away…

Casia's arc was fantastic and I enjoyed seeing her growth from the person who rather kept to the shadows to someone that finally embraced who she is.

The found family dynamic continues to shine through this book and reinforces the powerful bond between Casia and her friends.

The romance between Casia and Elander took a new route and that was natural considering the secrets that surfaced and I liked that none of it was swept under the rag, they had to confront it. The banter is as fun and the chemistry is sizzling!

this book was slower than the first, typical “prepare for battle” book with little plot. the love story kind of reminded me of flesh & fire series but a little different. still worth listening to since its free on audible.

I'm not entirely sure what to think of this book. I really enjoyed the first book in the series and after the cliffhanger, sort of, I was really curious what was going to happen next, but it seems that the series is growing into something different now. The first book was a romantasy, but this book becomes more of an epic fantasy. Don't get me wrong, but genres are fine, but epic fantasy is not always my thing. We did learn some new things by the end of the book and once more the cliffhanger is quite interesting. I'm just not entirely sure if I really enjoyed the way between the start of this book and the end of this book. It felt like there were a lot of moments not adding much to the story. It also felt like the characters were going in circles a little more often than was necessary. I have to admit, the latter fits the eventual storyline of the book, but still. Luckily the books are easy to read. I do want to know how the series ends and I do own it already. However, I won't be in a hurry to finish it.
