Maybe I am not feeling generous right now but...
IMHO, Cassia has got to be one of the worst FMCs I have ever read. Her selfish, nonsensical choices end up killing or nearly killing people and then she has the nerve to cry when there's consequences?
She even admits how stupid and selfish she was being in her choices but her regret always comes too late and often at a steep price. I could see this happening in book one when she was still learning her impact on things but we are past that going into book three now with an absolutely catastrophic situation that could have so easily been avoided if she had just.... stopped and thought at all? For one second? About literally anything other than herself in that moment? But no, she is still reacting on blind emotion with no thought whatsoever to the people around her.
I would be more sympathetic to her cause if the choices at least made sense and she was just being "human". That would be relatable. But every time she has risked all of her friends lives in order to do something she wanted (NOT needed) to do I could not puzzle out why she felt so strongly about the silliness she was insisting on.
Ugh. Not super motivated to continue this series and if I was reading it I would probably stop here with how disgusted I am with her but since I just passively listen to this going to and from work I suppose I will stick it out and hope she gets a better personality and at least a kernel of common sense.

I really loved this book and series so much, that I’m both excited and scared to read/listen to the last one! For as many answers that we got in this one, I’m still left with a lot of questions, and I absolutely loved the lore drops S. M. Gaither included and how immersive the world building there was.
As for the audio, I love the narrator. Absolutely one of my fave narrators that helps me forget that she is every character, including the male ones! I really felt immersed in the audio and I will definitely carry that over to book 3!

So disappointing
Did a different person write this??? The pacing, characters and plot all changed and definitely not for the better

I feel like a lot of this book could have been edited out and not much would have changed... again the end of the book made me want to read the next one.
The author pulled a me and forgot about the plot if the first book and wrote a different story
