Ended to quickly but I rather enjoyed it. It read like a short Game of Thrones in Space. Good finale to a short but enjoyable trilogy.
Ah, Scalzi...
I really loved this series and its character up to that underwhelming turning point in this last book.
Had it been the WTF moment alone, I could have dealt with it and moved on. But the entire ending felt rushed, and didn't seem to do the characters justice. Which is a pity, because things had been going well until then.
Wheaton's performance was great as usual, and that made me enjoy this one a little more in audio than on Kindle.

It was fun and mostly satisfying, but felt a little rushed, especially in the resolution.
Ahhh, the bittersweet feeling of finishing a trilogy of books you've greatly enjoyed. On the one hand, hooray for a satisfying ending! On the other, but I want moooooore [thrashes around forever]
Look, honestly, this is classic Scalzi. Whip smart dialogue, extremely likeable characters, slightly under-described environments and action and genuinely intriguing concepts explored with a light touch. This is an engaging and bittersweet conclusion to the chap's best series since Old Man's War and honestly, I can think of at least two spin-offs I'd be delighted to read (carn John, giz. GIZ, I SAY!)
Anyway, if you're wondering if you should start this series - if it's worth it - the answer's an emphatic yes. Timely, funny, enthralling and delightful.

At the beginning of the acknowledgments the author implies that he gave the book insufficient attention and eventually rushed through it because he was distracted. One can tell.

I got it yesterday and had to gobble it down. I'll reread it at a slower pace. Great end to the series, but I wouldn't mind another one following the reign of the Last Emperox, since Kiva cracks me up consistently. I kept hoping that it would turn out that Grayland II had outsmarted the assassins and would end up getting to live happily ever after, but that would've been a copout. I make have to go reread a bunch of Scalzi. Write faster, dude!
