John Scalzi

4.1 AVERAGE

True to form, Scalzi’s trilogy wraps up satisfyingly, with plenty of laughs, lots of ‘splosions and unexpected reveals, and an apparition (so to speak!) If the second book was weak (in my humble opinion) this one makes up for that by being *lots of fun* and (did I mention) satisfying. I previously remarked, in my brief review of the second book, that we needed more Kiva. So, it must be said, without saying anything specific, we get enough [expletive]-ing Kiva Lagos. All told, this was another fun Scalzi action-sf novel that reads quick and doesn’t fail to deliver on an emotional level.

A wonderful wrap up to a series I highly enjoyed. I chomped this one up fast and found the ending both satisfying and authentic. Highly suggest for those that was sci-fi empires with lots of sex and cussing in the best way

I kind of can't believe that we're here, at the end of this trilogy. I have reviewed every book in the trilogy as they've come out (and sometimes, like this time, quite a few months late... *sigh*), and it's so wonderful but also kind of sad to be here.

This book is absolutely filled with Scalzi's humour and I enjoyed every minute of it. And the way that the story is all wrapped up was such a surprise to me - and yet absolutely brilliant. There's very little that I can say about this one, as I want to avoid spoiling anyone as much as I can, but I have to say that reading this really cemented for me that I need to read more of John Scalzi's work.

As with the previous books, there is a wonderful balance of humour and gentle vulnerability at times, and the introduction of this vulnerability really helped the characters to feel more relatable for me - particularly Cardenia and Marce, who really explored aspects of a relationship where one of the members is incredibly high profile and has a lot of incredibly difficult decisions to make.

The Interdependency books are actually quite short for the amount that they pack in, and while I definitely find there to be an emphasis on the humourous, Scalzi also takes the opportunity to explore the difficulties and dangers of being in positions of power, and the battles that go on behind the scenes (and often very publicly) for that power. The humour really helps carry everything, though, and I happen to love Scalzi's particular breed of it.

Overall, a brilliant conclusion to a wild ride of a trilogy.

9/10 stars trapped in the collapsing Flow.

I received a review copy of this book from Pan Macmillan in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and feelings are my own.

I felt a little bit of a let down with this one. For the conclusion of a trilogy, there was a surprisingly large amount of exposition. I skimmed quite a bit of the last 50 pages.

4/5

I wasn't expecting so many twists and turns in this story. The entire trilogy was worth the read. I was really hoping that the book would go beyond the trilogy. I still have my hopes up.

Wow, this my be one of my favorite series I've ever read. So we'll written and quick read. It's like all the sci-fi and political power intrigue you want but in 3 books that are of reasonable size instead of 7 book epics.
