An in depth look at the life of a very funny man. A lot of insight into his creative process, even when it consisted of drugs and alcohol.

Not always funny, this book portrays a seemingly honest insight into a very funny, and prominent comical figure.
Very good, very sad that he's gone. Glad he worked on this so hard before he died.

George Carlin always has such an interesting way at looking at life. Reading his biography remind me how much he's missed.
One shelf I have on goodreads is "lol" on the off chance that someone is sifting through my books looking for something that will make this laugh. Somehow the best comedian of the century's autobiography failed to make me laugh. This could be because he was simply discussing his life, or it could be that his ghost writer is simply not a funny person at all. Regardless, one does not obtain a copy of a comedian's book and expect to be so bored with it that he or she does not want to read anymore after finishing the book. George, you're a hilarious man, I wish you had done something better with this book before you passed. Potential readers: skip the book. There's plenty of biographical information on wikipedia and his comedy is all on CD or HBO.
Nothing spectacular, but well edited and thus not overlong like some bios. It was interesting to learn the personal history behind the public image. I always enjoyed Carlin's unique perspectives, although some of his humor was admittedly a little raw and crass. I liked the way he refused to conform to trends of "correctness" and often said things the rest of us were thinking but weren't bold enough to say.
His brother sounds so much like him, you forget its not George reading it.
