this was better than the 7th book by a mile but still pretty meh overall. Dexter as a character feels like he's really devolved over time and honestly, if it wasn't for the increase in moments with his brother Brian, im not sure this even would've gotten 3 stars from me.

an ok end to a series that started strong then kind of fizzled out. still unsure if that's because of how I've changed over time or if it's the books themselves but I'm still glad I read them. much prefer the show, though.

Not my favorite book in the series. However, I did like that Dexter, Brian and Deborah all get together in the end and have to work together. Working my way through season 1 of the show!

A good final entry into the Dexter series.

I had a lot of fun with this series and this book is no different. Another solid outing by the serial killer that everyone seems to love.

I was particularly excited for this book since I finished the TV show a few years ago now and other than season 1 and book 1 they are wildly different. Which I'm happy with because that made it a lot of fun to compare and contrast the two of them since they are both good.

This is the same type of book as the other 7 of them. Nothing to new here although I did love
Spoiler that Brian (Dexter's brother) and Deborah had to actually sit and get along to make sure and get the mission done. Highly entertaining for me and I found my self rooting for them to be a messed up family together
.

The 2 negative things I have is 1: It was to predictable. This might be because I read all the other books and I understand the authors writing, but either way still wasn't caught off guard. And 2: I was not a huge fan of the ending. Some people are going to eat it up, but I am not one of those people. If the author had
Spoiler changed the title of the book I probably would have enjoyed it more. The ending could have been open to interpretation if Jeff Lindsay didn't name it "Dexter is Dead." But because of that title I feel like there is no interpretation. He's just dead.

Overall I'm glad I read these books. Lots of fun and for some reason serial killer stuff always fascinates me. This is some of my favorite serial killer books.

Hopefully that doesn't make me sound like a psycho :)

Welp I finally finished all eight Dexter novels after watching that money grab that was "New Blood".

Gotta say this is one of the few example of the show vastly surpassing the books.
Really could only recommend these book to big fans of the show.

The overall series never seemed to have much of an overall plan and each individual book was fairly predictable.
Still though, I finished em so thats saying something.

Sad that Dexter is finally dead and gone, on both paper and film.

How the book ended was great but the lackluster journey of getting there left a lot to be desired. It felt lazy and forced. Glad to have a proper ending though.

DEXTER IS DEAD

''It wasn’t supposed to end this way.''
me @ the series finally. Yes I’m STILL mad.

FINALLY FINISHED IT!!! Took me like 50years. I just had to someday finish the series because FUUUCK the series finale sucked. Fucking abomination. I just needed an ok ending. At this point the bar is almost nonexistent…. IIIIIII loved this ending. May be because of the show’s being garbage...gif

''-But I didn’t kill anybody.
-This time!''

Debs love ya and I see your point but free my boi. He is somehow innocent and he is family u cunt.

My babe Brian is back. Ugh I missed him. Also at this point I’m kinda on his side. Should have totally killed Debs. gif

7 and 8 should have been one fucking book. 7 was kinda eh and probably only existed to set up the story for 8... Aside from book 7 which was a mess, I’ve rated all the other 5stars *I’m not gonna count book 3 because what the fuck was that JEFF!!!! FUCKING DEMONS? REALLY?*... I don't have taste I guess.
