Well, the book series ends about as well as the TV series ended...Not great. I've never liked the books as much as the show (with the exception of the first book).
I can’t decide how I feel :( I spent the entire book telling myself the title referred to the fact that dexter was dead in his sister’s eyes. I knew I would be wrong... but I kept hoping until the very end.

Obviously it’s much better than the show ending lol. But Omg. So crazy!!! Couldn’t put it down

The ending to the book series is so much more satisfying than the ending to the TV series. I love the whole series. I would totally recommend this.
