Dexter Is Dead

3.4 AVERAGE

blah. This series died a slower and more painful death than Dexter.
medium-paced

I was really disappointed by this one. The whole involvement with Brian yet again coming out of nowhere, Dexter's lawyer, Deborah suddenly not being okay with Dexter being a killer after at least 4 books of not caring or saying anything. And the kids get kidnapped for the third. freaking. time. I'm just done. Thank god the series is over because I am done.
SpoilerWhat's the point of the book anyways? The title gives the whole thing away.
So it's just awful and redundant. I felt no rising action whatsoever, the events were choppy, and probably at least 20 pages of the book was Dexter sitting on his ass going 'hmmmm what should I doooo.....' No joke. He spends 2 whole pages wondering if he should go on a restaurant tour to pass the time between breakfast and lunch. And what the hell happened to Vince? He was awful in the last book too because of his over the top crush on Robert. I'm still giving this book three stars because it's not the worst book in the series, and at this point I just couldn't bring myself to care enough to actually hate it.

Actually dissapointed with this last book. I felt that everything was really forced , everything felt over descriptive and it just wasn't the ending to the series that I was hoping for. Dexter just didnt seem himself this time and there was none of his usual sarcastic humour.

This is the end to a pretty solid series... And too be honest, this book was really just icing on the cake, as I had totally thought the previous book in this series was the final book... imagine my surprise when I found it sitting in the new shelf at the library!

This book is chalk full of your favourite Dexter-isms; his tendency to over simplify things, his selfishness and dry humour. I think my only real complaint I have for this book was just the ease of the plot. Previous books it felt more thought out and clever; this one was just a tad bit unbelievable.

Just like the TV series, the final book was definitely not up to par with previous ones, but it is still the same fun ride you have come to expect with Dexter Morgan.

Such a better ending than in the tv series! And it was good to see Dexter return to his Dark Passenger roots; though him in Hollywood would have been interesting!

''It wasn’t supposed to end this way.''
me @ the series finally. Yes I’m STILL mad.

FINALLY FINISHED IT!!! Took me like 50years. I just had to someday finish the series because FUUUCK the series finale sucked. Fucking abomination. I just needed an ok ending. At this point the bar is almost nonexistent…. IIIIIII loved this ending. May be because of the show’s being garbage...gif

''-But I didn’t kill anybody.
-This time!''

Debs love ya and I see your point but free my boi. He is somehow innocent and he is family u cunt.

My babe Brian is back. Ugh I missed him. Also at this point I’m kinda on his side. Should have totally killed Debs. gif

7 and 8 should have been one fucking book. 7 was kinda eh and probably only existed to set up the story for 8... Aside from book 7 which was a mess, I’ve rated all the other 5stars *I’m not gonna count book 3 because what the fuck was that JEFF!!!! FUCKING DEMONS? REALLY?*... I don't have taste I guess.

I know it's weird to start at the end of the series, but after watching the entire television series without reading a novel, I thought I would read the last book to see how the author really wanted to end Dexter's story.
Other reviewers said that you could understand the final novel if you watched all of the shows, which is true. I noticed some major changes, so I may go back and read some more of the series. I kind of preferred the television Dexter to the novel Dexter, though.

Great addition to the series! Dexter is quirky and wicked as always. This is one of my all-time favorite series and one of my favorite characters! The author has you cringing and laughing at the same time.

OMG WHAT JUST HAPPENED?! I started reading the Dexter books years ago and I was always eagerly awaiting for the release of the next one. This book was bittersweet for me. Just from the title of this book I knew that I would be saying goodbye to a character who I have watched grow and change over the years. I always enjoyed reading about the trouble Dex would get himself into and I often felt I was right there with him trying to figure out how "we" were going to get out of the mess that was made. I knew at the start of this book that this was going to the be the last Dexter book and that not everyone was bound to get out of this book alive, but I still didn't expect the many emotions this book put me through. I know that people don't always get a happy ending but that didn't stop me from hoping that everything would work out for Dexter in the end. Yet again, another series that I have spent countless days/hours devouring has come to an end and I guess it is time for me to try find another series to devote my time to.
