Continues the episodic nature of first book. The Empyre issues still work toward X of Swords.

More cohesive than the first volume. Unfortunately mired in whatever Marvel event was going on at the time. The Empyre stuff isn’t super important, but the first issue introducing the Crucible and the last issue of Magneto fighting the Cotati are great.

Resurrections, intergalactic wars, and the talking trees attacking the Earth. So much stuff packed into these few issues, but everything's executed really well. Hickman, as always, writes very well and plants seeds for the future in every page. The artwork's fantastic as well. This just keeps getting better and better.

Wasn't that interested in this collection, wondering if I need to read in the publication order between the other X-Men series? I'm excited to get into X of Swords though.

I have really been enjoying Hickman’s run of X-Men. I loved his House of X/Powers of X series. This volume was really great up until it got into the Empyre crossover stuff. I wasn’t a huge fan of that event. Hickman still worked at making these books interesting though so I give him props for that.
