Fucking hated this book back in 2nd grade. So boring. Lived up to it’s name.
I read this story in elementary school and probably several other times, but I just reread it for our upcoming book club and loved it even more than I remember. The language is plain and simple and I appreciate Sarah's bravery and the father's dedication to his children.
I'm pretty sure there are more in this series and I want to read them. I thought this was a cute love story told through the eyes of a child.
I read this book in the 4th grade or so, and even then this was a touching book. I remember wondering what it was like for the children to grow up without a mother and hoping that Sarah would stay.
