This book was so much fun to read. I have played some of the video game that this book was based off, and it was really enjoyable being able to go through the story in a different way. It's a very compelling story set in Italy during the Renaissance time.

Rating: 4/5 stars

This was actually pretty good. As good as the game itself.

I actually started playing Assassin's Creed not from this storyline (i.e. Assassin's Creed II). So, I barely knew what was happening when I was playing Assassin's Creed Rogue. Good thing I bought this book. I did watch the gameplay on Youtube while reading this book and it certainly helped me keep up with the characters (quite a lot of them, actually).

Love the storyline, the characters and the places (couldn't help but to reminisce my trip to Venice, Florence and Rome - I miss Italy so much!). I swear I read this book with an Italian accent in my head. lol. Oh and I really really REALLY love how Leonardo da Vinci plays an important role in this book. Love him, he's an inspiration with a good heart.

It's a really good read. I'm going to buy book two soon.

p.s. learned a few curse words in Italian, thanks to the Italian-English translation at the back. haha.

I feel like this was poorly written, and it added nothing to the game line except a little insight to what Ezio was thinking and his motivations behind his actions. But, while that may have been good, the terrible writing distracted heavily from my ability to enjoy this novel.

Možno to pomôže.)

I thought I'd try out this book, since I really love the videogames and I have to say, I was not disappointed! It is nice to read the whole backstory of your protagonist that, in the game, really just murders all the time, which is fun in its own way. Really recommend it!

It fun was because I could revive the scenes of the game while I was reading it. The plot wasn't particularly surprising, but since I like the story a lot it was enjoyable. The book sometimes can be kinda dull, but Ezio is a great character so you just wanna keep on going. Leonardo is my second favorite and we discovered a little about his sexuality in the book (not even mentioned in the game).
I still think the Italians words should have been translated, but they weren't that frequent.
I don't know if I want to continue the book series, even though I've heard the author's writing improve over time.

If you're a fan of the game, there's no doubt you'll enjoy this book. It's a very nice way to revisit the story, and Bowden manages to add a little to it.
If you're looking for historically accurate fiction, you might wanna look elsewhere, if you're looking for an easy read and some adventure this book has that. I quite enjoyed it.

Thoughts:
We have monthly book discussions at work where we have to read and discuss books on the chosen genre, and I chose assassins creed for the sci-fi genre… and remembering that this was a game and my husband played it, so I started reading this book in the hopes that we could discuss it and compare the book to the game.
The book started off great!
The first half of the book was everything I hoped it would be. It was interesting, gripping, and fast-paced (or at least did not drag). If it continued that way, it would have been better, but alas…
The second half dragged- and I found myself putting it down a lot and reading something else.
The book starts from Ezio as an 18-year-old and ends off with him being 44 years old. More skilled in battle and a little bit more mature.
There were no emotions in a lot of the story, and no character development from him or any other characters, for that matter.
It’s not an awful book- and I won’t discourage anyone from reading it… Just don’t start reading it with high expectations.
There were so many things I picked out when I read:
- loved the environmental descriptions
- the action scenes were way too much and quite unnecessarily detailed.
- Some scenes were too short with little or no detail
- I was disappointed that some of the escape or rescue missions doesn’t give more detail- that made me sad/development.
I won’t give any spoilers, but the ending was pleasantly unexpected!
