3.75⭐️ This shit was hilarious! It had me weak as heck the whole book. The romance aspect had me flip floppier than a catfish in a moonbounce. There was so many times where I was like “girl you don’t need EITHER of them, find you a woman in the Queer Beer Mountaineer group and call it a year!” There was no point where I wanted her with Killian but with River I was off and on about them the WHOLE time, literally until the last 20 or so pages lol. I didn’t even want her to be too friendly with Killian after their breakup. Maybe I’m petty but being friends with a neglectful, insulting, disrespectful, manipulative, LIKELY cheating man only 3 or so months after the breakup is insane to me. The whole time he was crying and whining I was like “suck it tf up, nobody cares”. I get wanting your kid to have a father and mother but you can be successful coparents without leaving on an extended vacation with him. If he wanted to be around his kid so bad, he could have rented out the house she was renovating for the weekend and spent time there. So the relationship aspect pissed me clear tf off in this book but its so funny and the “refinding  your family” aspect was pretty good and I could easily point out things that could be relatable. Overall I’d read it again, its got some pretty insightful advice in this book plus its damned entertaining. I’ll also be looking for more books by this author.

I LOVED the second book in this series (that I read first) but this one didn’t do it for me. I still enjoyed but I found myself cringing and I didn’t find either of the main characters to be particularly likeable. I didn’t hate them but I really wasn’t obsessed.

I expected a shallow hallmark-movie romcom, but the characters were well developed and carried the fun, but occasionally emotional, story.

Overall I liked the story, but the ending of this book could have been shorter.

Steeping in southern charm, this HGTV romance blossomed with both endearing and love-to-hate moments, most notably the quippy grandmother with her pure-hearted meddling ,and the putrid, egotistical baby daddy with a rapid redemption arc.

All points however, converge on the aspirational message to forgive one’s self, for adulthood is condemning, co-parenting a mine field, and grown relationships often juggle conflicting priorities, especially with children involved. Just remember: Perfection is relative to the beholder; your best is enough.
