Well written, but a bit bleak. I expected something a little more lighthearted given the cover art with the googly eyes. 

The characters felt fleshed out and realistic. The narrative was in service of an underlying point of view on reality being sometimes harsh and unforgiving.

when in Athens it was only right to read a book about athenians from ancient times!! not my usual reading but so unexpected - cheeky and charming but also moving with a lot of depth. an incredibly unique story (or maybe that’s just because I don’t usually read stuff like this), such a good holiday read and nice to break up the sad reads with a more joyful one like this!
