It was fun to hear Kaidan's perspective on the story. However, I didn't think it gave many new insights into the story or his character. I was curious to learn more about his emotional life, like how he feels about the work he has to do and his complicated relationship with his father, but it wasn't really what I hoped/expected from it on that front. It was still entertaining to hear his thoughts on some of the scenes from the trilogy though.

More or less every page was quotable. Oh, not in the good way, either.

Ps. Learn to use singular forms of a Hebrew noun.

As Kai would say it was bloody brilliant. I always love his attitude in the other books and it was great getting to read from his point of view. You get so just how much he went through want to be with Anna even when he pretended not too. Plus reading his inner thoughts just cracks me up.

This was fun fluff. It was nice to read from Kai's POV, but there really wasn't much else going on. There were some side bits that I wish the author would have developed throughout the novel to give us more of a new story, but that didn't happen. I was hoping for more background between the other secondary characters of the original books or maybe even an extended epilogue, but alas, nope.

SOOOO this fun little bonus book is just that. Fluff. I still kind of liked it though.

This book did the job. There were a lot of scenes throughout the series that I knew would be great to read from his perspective and for those scenes this book really came through. Although my three biggest critiques would be the scenes that are almost identical where reading them from his point of view doesn't add anything, his inner voice is very annoying because he doesn't focus on anything BUT her - there wasn't much more personality we got from him, and the author said it would be spicier than the series but I found it was only marginally so. The expectation was high if you put that in lol. It was nice to see some thoughts and justifications - also loved the jealousy. But overall, it felt very one note and didn't add that much. I would recommend for those who really want to re-read those possessive/jealous scenes with more insight but it may be best to skim read anything in between that you don't find interesting.

Sweet Temptation is a wonderful addition to the series. I almost would have preferred every book from his perspective. I found the parts relating to book 2 and 3 fairly repetitive and didn’t show us anything new, but I loved hearing his point of view in book 1, on their road trip and witnessing him fall in love with her.

Band of horses - The funeral

Love Kai. Brilliant story.

August 2018:
FIVE STARS. I love this book just as much as I loved it when I’ve read it before. Every time, it’s like I pick up little new things I never noticed before. I love that Kaiden sees Anna in such a positive light. How his crush turns into love, and love turns into respect and admiration. He thinks he deserves nothing, but Anna changes that. Kaiden is always going to be prideful, but we see a very well-done transformation of him being humbled as well. Kaiden is a pretty messed up guy, and I’m so happy to see he gets the happy ending he deserved. I mean, you kind of know how it ends after reading book 3, but everything in this book is different. And yes, I cried at the end. Wendy Higgins sure knows how to pull your heartstrings, I mean, dang. What a way to end a series.

Review from whenever I read this last (2017?):

Poor Kaiden... wanna give him a hug so bad and tell him that he’s going to be okay!! This is so much more emotional than I remembered. Kaiden actually has like.. serious depression, and he’s love sick, and he has it so rough. Reading the original Sweet trilogy from Anna’s POV was so different. Kaiden definitely has the dark and moody thing going on, but he has the most real, heartbreaking reason why; and that makes his story so much more believable and empathetic. I love this boy and he deserves happiness to the greatest extent <3.

The things that he has seen, has been through, are awful. He truly is a messed up guy when he meets Anna, but the way he takes control of his life and tries to change for her is so brave and sweet and honest. He loves her and he and will do anything for for her- including abandoning his lustful curse so he can hope to be good enough for her (even though he ends up proving it all the time).

I have so much respect for him by the end, even though he has been a awful person and not done the right things. He truly changed and gets control of himself. He is redeemed. And he is able to let himself be loved by someone, and learn to love others too, and that is so beautiful to me.
