Okay, deep breath, how to write a review on this book? As you probably already know, I’m a big fan of The Sweet Trilogy and of Wendy Higgins. I was excited when she announced that the third book wasn’t quite the end of the trilogy and that there was going to be a fourth book telling the whole story over again…from Kai’s point of view. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book!
Now that I’ve read it, I have to say it exceeded my expectations. I was a bit worried that it wouldn’t capture my interest as much as the other books because I already knew the story and what the outcomes were. However, I’m happy to say that this book fully captivated me. While I did know the main outcomes, there were smaller ones that I had forgotten and got to relive all over again. Plus, there was a bunch of new content to experience as well.
I loved being on this journey through Kai’s POV. While I clearly loved it from Anna’s POV as well, the two are so different. This book had a different tone to it and it was written more maturely.
I definitely don’t have anything to complain about with this book. I love love loved it! I highly recommend it to anyone who read and loved (or liked) The Sweet Trilogy and anyone who sighs for Kai. If you haven’t read the previous books in the series, I highly recommend you do that as well!

Loved this! It brought back memories from the trilogy. Ah, so bittersweet!
Yes. Yes. Yes. Kaidan Rose will forever have my heart. Ugh the spice really is *chef’s kiss*
So before I say anything, let me make it clear that this is a companion book to the original Sweet series and is, in no way, a replacement for those books. It's in your best interest to read Sweet Evil, Sweet Peril, and Sweet Reckoning before reading this book. Also, this is going to be a mini review because I actually don't have all that much to say!
With that being said, this is an excellent companion novel! I loved being able to see things from Kaiden's perspective and have a real glimpse into his life and not just see what Anna saw. We get to see key scenes from the series in his perspective as well as a couple new scenes that Anna wasn't a part of in the original series.
The best part about this is the POV. You can definitely tell the difference between Anna and Kaiden and it helps you delve into the story that much more.
There's one other thing I wanted to mention the one thing that I found disconcerting. There were gigantic time jumps at certain points and I would have found it helpful if the book was divided by the original series (the names of the books divided the book into sections) and if each chapter was labeled with when it occurred. Often times I found myself stopping for a minute and trying to locate in my head when this particular scene happened.
The Final Verdict:
This is a wonderful companion novel and if you loved The Sweet Series, I highly recommend you read this to get a deeper understanding of our male MC!

Quotes:
“I won't just be swallowing my pride; I'll be choking on it.”
“Anna finds remnants of cocaine on my coffee table and goes all daughter-of-Belial on me.”
“Brother Pharzuph," Astaroth begins. I know what he is going to say, and I steel myself. "I'm afraid this is more dire than we thought. Your son and the traitor's daughter are quite... in love.
Hm. I like the sound of that. It's the worst possible kick in the balls I can give Father, who looks as if he might vomit.”
“It would decidedly not be okay to touch the bum.”
“For the record,” I say, hardly able to speak through the lust that pumps through my veins, “I was more myself with you during those three days than I’ve ever been with anyone in my life. It’d be easier if I could be fake with you, but you bring out everything in me, little Ann. All of it.” The good and the bad. The hot and the cold. The lust and the love.”
“I think Anna Whitt is bad for my health.”
“And because I still feel like I haven't said enough - because I need to prove just how momentous this is for me, I bash down the barriers I've kept up for eight years, unleashing my aura for Anna to see. I shiver as I bare myself, and I feel Anna holding me tighter. I want her to see my love, like I saw hers once upon a time.
"Oh..." she whispers. "It's beautiful."
I shake my head. Only one thing deserves that word. "You're beautiful.”

Heck yeah!!! All throughout the first book I kept hoping it would switch to Kaidan's POV so when I saw this I was thrilled. LOVED getting a look into his head.
I loved the series. But I loved hearing the story from Kaidan's point of view even more. He is such a lovable character and being able to see how he cared for Anna since the beginning was amazing!

You may be thinking “A trilogy is three books why are there four?” Well, Sweet Temptation is like a companion novel to The Sweet Trilogy where the trilogy is retold in Kaidan’s (the love interest) POV. Yes, you need to read the main story first for Sweet Temptation to make sense.
Unfortunately, Sweet Temptation was a bit of a disappointment. I expected to learn more about what makes Kaidan tick like I did with Four in my Fun With Four series. I learned that Kai is mostly controlled by his lust (like I couldn’t already guess) and he didn’t have a favorable upbringing (obviously, based on his relationship with his father), but I don’t feel like I learned much about Kai. For the most part, I just got to see Kai fall in love with/ develop a love addiction for Anna and I got to see him battle his insecurities. I knew there weren’t going to be many scenes different from the main story, but I had wanted to learn more about Kai. I had wanted to learn secrets about Kai, but instead I got Anna this, Anna that, Anna, Anna, Anna. I would be cute if I wanted a story that was only romance.
Anyway, Sweet Temptation is a nice read, especially since Higgins give us fans exactly what we wanted. Who am I to ask for more? It’s just saddens me that Kai in Sweet Temptation didn’t make me swoon the way Kai in the other three books did. If anything, this book has caused Kaidan to move down on my book boyfriend list because he isn’t as interesting. *Sigh* I guess I just have to find a book whose boyfriend makes up for what this Kai lacked.

I'm not sure if it was because I read this book straight after finishing the series, but while I enjoyed the beginning, I got kind of tired of it somewhere in the middle. I would recommend to anyone considering reading it to do so after a break from the series. It's at some new information but it's mainly repeats the series events so a nostalgic tint might add a lot to it.
The book is quite enjoyable, it's really funny at times, a lot of pull my finger kind of humor jokes and snarky remarks. The whole horny teenager bit was a bit tiring though, I thought it was too much from Anna's point of view so with Kaidan it was just ridiculous. Experiencing abdomen pains and losing all ability to think is just a way to exaggerated reaction, and I get that he's supposed to be weak where last is concerned, but seriously boy just learn to take care of yourself and you might feel a lot better.
