Historical fiction that uses actual people in its narrative is a confusing balancing act. I think that, while it's important we have access to these stories, it's too muddy of an area for it to be enjoyable.

Unforgettable reading experience reading this one by campfire light while in Gettysburg

Probably the best Historical Fiction I have ever read. A real glimpse into the men who fought the war—who they were and why they were fighting.

I was reminded again of just how powerful the Union cause was—to fight for the equality of man.

Incredible

My dad is very disappointed about my dislike of this book

part of my civil war reading rampage of 2014. not sure if i would have flipped for this so hard if i wasn't already kind of tenderized by shelby foote. wasn't expecting as much from longstreet as i got. also man the movie adaptation of this ("gettysburg") bites it. the chamberlain parts are OK but the lee/longstreet parts stiiiiink.
