***I received an ARC from Edelweiss for an honest review***

I found the superhero child to be endearing. However, I thought the neighbor adult in this novel shared a bit too much with an impressionable youngster. The whole "in love/out of love" was very TMI. This lady is in severe need of some girlfriends.

An endearing novella by Craig Silvey. Whilst the protagonist of the "Amber Amulet" would be just as at home in a children's story book, the emotions and discussions are purely adult, heightened by the eye of childhood naivety. The scrapbook illustrations are adorable, and as a purely aesthetic experience, "the Amber Amulet" is delightful.

A lovely little novella. I was initially taken by the retro pulp-fiction look of the cover - it's a gorgeous little book with scrapbook-like illustrations within. I found the story of 12 year old Liam aka The Masked Avenger charming. He's a super hero who keeps his street safe by putting out forgotten rubbish bins, ensuring car tyres are at the correct pressure and desiring to cure unhappiness.

Adorable short story about an insomniac boy's secret identity and his never-ending quest to do good.
