Definitely not my style of writing so no rating. Barely made it through 2 pages.

We have a story of two gay young women from different backgrounds brought together after one is shunned from her mother after found fooling around with another girl. They become friends and get closer as the other finds herself dealing with some health issues. I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the narrators, there were some really heart warming and touching moments and I think it did a lot of things well, I really like it but wish I liked it even more.

Oh man, this book got me emotional in the best/worst way.

Firstly, let me address what I didn’t see ANYWHERE else and had to hunt down myself - one of the POV’s is not in American-Standard English. It’s written with Trinidad Folk Language/Grammar as one of the MC’s is from there. It took me a few chapters to move past this, as it is quite jarring, but your brain picks up smoothly after that.

Secondly, THIS WAS SO SAD AND SO GOOD? Ughh I just am so glad I read this and thank the Muses that this book exists for teens and adults out there who stumble upon it. It’s about love, rejection, grief, death, and spirituality. And on top of that, we have a cast of (mostly) wholesome, loving, supportive parents which we do not see enough in media.

Lastly, the ending was not my favorite. But it makes sense with the story. I just wish it were drawn out a bit more bc I didn’t feel like I got to really say goodbye to these amazing characters.

This book took a different direction to what I was initially expecting but i’m so glad it did. At times I found it a little bit hard to stay engaged but aside from that I adore this book. I can’t go into detail without spoilers but it’s a beautiful story with sapphic main characters, spirituality & connection.

This was a book presented in my digital library for pride month. Clicked on it not knowing what it was about besides being a pride book, by a black author, and had black characters. I didn't know it was a romance novel. If I did I probably wouldn't have downloaded it. Glad I just downloaded it not know because I really enjoyed the book. The journey of the different characters. I love the tenderness of the characters even the men. I loved how the men could cry, be loving, feel their feelings and not be weak. Really glad this book found its way to me

One of my favorite books now. I learned so much about healing, all different forms of love, and it felt like the author truly loved each of the characters she wrote.
