story time! so once upon a time i was a small child and my family took a long road trip. my mom, a king fanatic, got an audiobook of the mist. it absolutely traumatized me. years later the film adaptation also traumatized me. but it was only now as an adult that i actually read the mist for myself. and holy shit, it traumatized me a third time! this novella is so terrifying, so unsettling. the imagery and descriptions of the creatures are bone chilling. the ending is so ominous. the only thing i have to complain about is how damn horny stephen king always is. was the narrator fucking some random girl in the grocery store necessary? probably not. but my boy stephen was probably all hopped up on blow when he wrote it so whatever. but overall, this definitely lived up to the hype in my own mind, and i absolutely loved this.

Hmpf. Great story, great setup, great characters - I love the market setting so much.

But that ending? Pissed me off to no end.

Did however get majorly scared of spiders for a couple of weeks there, so thanks King :D

Does Stephen King ever not set a book in Maine?

Good quick read, though I wouldn’t say I liked this more than The Long Walk. I sort of have a bigger appreciation for it now.
