The writing kept me up too late reading. I chose this because it was part of the Big Library Read, which means no wait in Libby. It's worth a read. Drama, but not too over the top.

An easy read for people who want a straightforward, good story. If you've got family trauma, this might be difficult to read, but the book doesn't do a deep dive with the siblings discussing it. Descriptions of death, drug use, and overdose resulting in death (at about last 3rd of the book).
This book was a mixed read for me. I enjoyed reading it, but I found myself so infuriated with the characters. Natalie and Kit were the only ones that didn’t drive me crazy. Also, the whole premise was a bit crazy that everyone blamed Natalie for a guy overdosing because she called 911 because her sister’s head was bleeding. It felt unfair that no one ever acknowledged that Natalie actually hadn’t been the one making mistakes that night.

I liked the family relationships in this book and the quest to find the missing brother, but didn’t really understand why everyone villainized Natalie for the night she called the police? That was nearly impossible for me to get over (for the OPPOSITE reasons her family felt), then the abuse and parenting/aunting were just incredibly unbelievable. If the subject matter were lighter it could be a nice fluff/beach read, but it tried to tackle too much and just couldn’t.
