If you want a love story, but you also want relatable characters with depth and a story with layers instead of fluff, then you must turn to Jojo Moyes. She has done it again with her latest book, One Plus One. Jess is a single mom of two just barely scraping by when she meets Ed, a successful computer geek being investigated in an insider trading case. They end up on a road trip to take Jess' daughter, Tanzie, to a math competition that could change the course of her life. The characters are hard not to fall in love with, including Norman, the dog...and anyone who knows me knows that I am not sentimental when it comes to animals. Jess was so strong and noble, but at the same time you wished you could change everything for her. And, there is nothing better than a smart little girl with a great big brother. It had moments of tension and laughter and heart break and redemption and I relished them all. This was the perfect summer read.

I *loved* this book. The readers were top-notch, the characterization interesting, the conflict moving--really strong focus on how one thing going wrong can cause an avalanche of bad luck for a family on the edge. Hugely enjoyable. Moyes manages the differing viewpoints adeptly. I will listen to this, or read it, again!

I loved this book. I've lived that two-job single parent life and felt the pain all too well. It's a wonderful read of encouragement that hard times will pass.

Had I not read "Me Before You" previously, this book probably would have gotten four stars. My expectations were very high going in, and while I did enjoy the book, it certainly didn't blow me away.

the queen stays queen. she is able to nail adorable but complex characters coming together under unique circumstances and I love it, EVERY TIME.

I enjoyed this book. It was a good, light read for over winter break. I don't love books about downtrodden women who spend time with loser men, but the protagonist, Jess, was not pathetic, even though her life was very hard. Her optimism kept this story from being onerous to read.
