Hilarious and informative. You do not need to be familiar with this industry to enjoy the book. I read a good portion out loud to the kids and they were laughing along with me.

A brisk, confident, engaging introduction to the world of AIs and neural networks and how very surreal and whimsical they can be. I learned a lot and I laughed even more - occasionally too much, occasionally enough that I had to put the book down and go do something else for a while to catch my breath. Extremely witty and hilarious, and a useful primer on what AI is currently capable of - and what it isn't.

I was recommended this book by a friend and I'm glad I read it. I now want to read Janelle's blog after this book.

I have a background in developing AI based solutions for real world problems with several published academic journals. A lot of things mentioned in the book are issues I've faced as well. It's good to know that others faced the same issues.

I found this book easy to read and gives a good explanation about the various methods of training AI and their shortcomings. According to the author, AI algorithms are very literal and great at finding solutions to the problem it needs to solve. However, the solution might not be practical or even workable in reality. Developers need to be on the lookout for bias in the AI solution as it's learning is based on human data.

I highly recommend this book. It's a fun read while being educational. Don't worry, there won't be one robot overlord of humans, just many overlords specifically trained to deal with different people/situations :P

Enjoyable look at how AI actually works, and what it can and can't do, and the sorts of tasks it is actually good at. If you've followed Shane's blog, a lot of this will be familiar, but I still quite enjoyed having it all put together in one place.

Not a bad primer at all on AI for those who, like me, have no remotely relevant educational background. No doubt becoming a little dated, though that's hardly the author's fault, and maybe a little heavy on the post-xkcd quirky webcomic humour for my liking. But even the latter works pretty well in an account which touches enjoyably on some of the oddities of AI and the misconceptions to which it is subject.

A really fantastic and easy to understand intro guide to what AI really is and means. And what is currently capable and even more apparent - not capable of. I think this is a great place to start for anyone who doesn’t get what the fuck is happening right now and will show you how much of the extreme ai tech out there is really smoke and mirrors for something being run by humans still.

Fun book and informative.
