I have rarely laughed out loud reading as many times as I did with this book. An extremely clear, concise, and funny book about Artificial Intelligence, I would recommend this to anyone who (like me), wasn't sure exactly what AI is, what's its strengths and limitations are, and if it's going to take over the world.
I can only imagine how the world would be like if learning were always so fun!

It really helped demystify AI for me in a friendly and fun way, while also showcasing how human knowledge and values completely shape how effective or ethical an AI can be. In particular, I think it's a great middle ground between a too-technical explanation of the math and a too-simplistic gloss over AI as a black box.
“After all, predicting what crimes or accidents may occur is a really tough, broad problem. Identifying and copying bias is a much easier task for an AI.”
Love this term and how relevant it is to anything in STEM! math-washing / bias laundering: “treating a decision as impartial just because it came from an AI”
“Catastrophic forgetting” refers to how “a typical neural network has no way of protecting its long-term memory”, but I'm obsessed with how poetic it sounds.
“People who claim that their AIs are the artists are exaggerating the capabilities of the AI—and selling short their own artistic contributions and those of the people who designed the algorithms.”

More giraffes than I expected; less, I suspect, than the author would have liked.

A very entertaining read, with enough depth to at least help the reader start to understand what AI can and can't do, and why. For my preferences it could have gone a little bit deeper in places, but it's a tricky balance and certainly having plenty of examples/illustrations of AI behaviour instead goes a long way towards making the broader concepts more intelligible.
