is it cool with everyone if my review is just 'Breq' with a heart drawn around it

Wasn't as good as the first one. Felt slow because the plot was so linear (in comparison, the first one jumped back and forth between two different times, so there was a little bit more plot interest). I also wish that Leckie had introduced some more complexity with Justice of Toren. Everything JoT did never seemed to have drastically negative consequences, and so I found that I didn't care about JoT's well-being/wasn't as invested in the character as I was in the first book in the series.
Overall though, I still really enjoyed the book. Leckie does some fun world-building, and I like the sociopolitical stratification of Rachh society, which makes the character interactions/motivations a lot more complex/interesting.

Started off a bit slow and I took a long break in the middle (blame having kids - not the book) but eventually picked up by the last third. The ending was solid and has an interesting setup for book 3.

The realities of "civilization" after longstanding annexations to enlarge an empire are not glossed over, which is what I appreciate most about the Radch books. This sequel moves slower than Ancillary Justice, but I was kept on the line by constantly learning new angles.

Started slow but picked up towards the end.

I don't understand how anything could be better than the 1st book, but Ancillary Sword utterly & completely topped Ancillary Justice! Everything about this book is just UGH I love it. The levels of politicking are more intricate and none of the new characters (because there are MANY) come off as insignificant. The ending of this book is an amazing set-up for Ancillary Mercy and I can't wait for it to come out! BE PUBLISHED SOONER PLEASE GOD

I am pleased, but the ending wasn't as satisfying as the first since we're now definitely in a series.
SpoilerI loved that just when I was becoming crazy distracted thinking about the Presger treaty and how that worked when the Presger didn't have anything like human language the Presger translator appeared. I am very sad she died so very quickly though.

absolutely not what i expected (at the end of the day it kind of feels like breq is just vibing) but idk i enjoyed it

i am still so confused about tisarwat tho
