Seeing how far Megan Goldin has come from this book to the night swim is wild. This book was okay. I knew what was happening immediately but the story was still intriguing. It gave me the chills and feel really disgusted by money can make people do. Megan Goldin’s description and creation of characters is top tier.

holy shit - this was not at all what I expected it to be.

it was a good, pretty quick read and it captured my attention pretty much from the beginning. I really like the switching povs a lot. the title and summary are deceiving though. it's made out to be an escaperoom type of story but it's more about the world of investment banking and the lives of a few of those people. the end suprised me the most and overall I liked the book.

For me, this wasn’t a book full of unexpected twists and turns. The plotting was obvious, but there in lies the magic of this book. I knew who was behind it and I suspected why very early on. I still enjoyed the story and confirming just how horrible people can be when money and power are involved. However the very end of the book was the only twist I didn’t see and it was extremely enjoyable. Highly recommend for those who enjoy thrillers.

The protagonist grieves her death. The protagonist's father has a chronic heart condition which he dies from later in the novel (off-page). It was good in the sense that I did not see the ending coming by any means. I listened to this on audiobook and think that helped me get through the slower beginning!
