The story should have been developed more. We should have spent more time with the MC in his first hundred years as an immortal, we should have seen him become friend with bestie, we should have been showed their relationship more and how tender it was. Everything was very tell and not much show. Even the homophobia in Heaven was not really well explained.. a lot of time was spent trying to figure out what was happening to the banned gods when in reality it could have been shorter and everyones link explained better. I understand why people thought the ending was confusing, but I wish the whole book was more like the ending. The worldbuilding should have been more in dept.

4.5 stars. I didn’t expect to like this so much, but this was such a pleasant read. Still have one more chapter to go, but the rating remains. The extras have me devastated, but there is hope!!!

3/5stars

I'm a bit torn on this one because the overall premise was really interesting, there was a lot of humor and very funny parts, I really liked the MCs voice as well, he was a very interesting character to follow, but there were also some parts that were just WEIRD and hard to overlook.

I was confused about the romance for quite some time, and god i just HATE the "turned into a child" arc that is so common in danmei (especially in this one because
Spoiler him kissing hengwen WHILE HE IS A CHILD?????? WHAT THE FUCK???????????????????????????
).

ALSO why was this kinda weirdly homophobic like the mc has so much internalized homophobia but there was also some homophobia from other people/the entire immortal realm as well idk it was weird

And then the last 50 pages kinda lost me but then the last like 10 pages really got me again. It also felt like there was a LOT of just... convenient things to explain things away. I feel like this entire book could be described as "convoluted" tbh (to quote my friend "it was very convoluted because we as the reader weren't brought along for the journey" - the entire "romance" was basically just info-dump explained at the very end)

I dunno, I feel like this review is very negative for a 3 star but I really did like it and I had a fun time reading it - I read it in like 24 hours! and I doubt i'll be forgetting about this one any time soon it definitely left a lasting impression lol

I don't care much for the author's writing style and much of the ambiguity; there are other books I could spend my time reading right now.

I dislike that I'm dropping a book so early in the year, but I was just not enjoying reading this. While I suspect that the story evolves later on, what I read of this book honestly made me somewhat uncomfortable, with no other interesting or compelling elements to offset such present. So I decided to drop this, because life is too short to force yourself to read a book you're not enjoying.

The slow realization of feelings is so good. I liked how the author kept the main couple vague and even then there's still doubt in who the MC is going to end up with.
