Pleasant summer reading for intelligent readers interested in something light on intellect without having to lower the bar too drastically. Characters are not well developed but interesting. Suspense was thin, while retaining my curiosity. Romance - thankfully - was not of the throbbing sort, nor was it embarrassingly melodramatic. This was a simple, fun, fairly straightforward little Victorian mystery story - a good quick read for the beach, the lake or the park.

An enjoyable Victorian mystery with an intelligent female protagonist -- yay! I just never quite warmed up to our heroine -- her narrative "voice" came across as rather detached -- and the middle of the book dragged a bit for me. I'm glad I read it, but I don't think I'll be reading the rest of the series.

Enjoyable light read filled with love triangles, mysteries and likeable characters. Don’t take the book too seriously and you’ll love it! It’s made me want to re-learn Greek mythology and visit the British museum!
This book was like a ride down a lazy river. Pleasant, a bit meandering, and a surprise around the next corner. I was surprised that there were no dead bodies in this mystery. I could not see where this story was headed. I enjoyed the frivolity of the characters, and especially enjoyed learning about the antiquities. I am interested to know where the series will take Lady Ashton next.
