I think I've developed a bias against prologues in mystery books. I have yet to have one enchance my reading expirence, but at least this one didn't spoil the ending.

Howard was too much of a red haring from jump. I didn’t  buy that it was him. I'm also shocked that none of the characters came to the obvious conclusion that Francis and Howard were having an affair. But they came to just about every other conclusion.

I did like the Lucy reveal. But i think there should have been a bit more hinting out who specifically she was.

The Tom storyline could have been cut entirely. We didn't even get to see the resolution between him and Alex.

Overall this was kind of disappointing.

I Need You to Read This is a thoughtfully intricate mystery surrounding the unsolved murder of a famed NY advice columnist and her unlikely successor.

I liked the depth of the story and all the different ways the pieces and people of it were connected. But this definitely had more of a murder mystery/whodunnit feel than thriller vibes. The main “twist” was very obvious from the start, and it made the story feel somewhat anticlimactic. There were additional, smaller twists that I didn’t see coming though, which was a nice surprise.

Overall, I just left this book feeling like something was missing. All the parts to a good story were there, but the way they all fit together just never quite fully captured my attention or made me really invested. I think I would be willing to give something else by this author a try, but this just wasn’t my fav. 😕

Some of the plot felt predictable although the twist was still effective. I had to bring down my rating a bit because I think they chose the wrong narrator - her Italian accent works for some books like The Sicilian Inheritance, but not so much for a bunch of New Yorkers.

I found this book to be completely predictable yet random at the same time. A lot of scenes seemed to never tie into the plot of the book.
the big twist ultimately had nothing to do with the main reason why someone was interested in this murder mystery to begin with. It felt like the action was just added because the author needed some type of thrill or drama added into this book to make it interesting.

A lame, tame version of a Colleen Hoover book but without the sex.
