This was enjoyable, it was refreshingly clever and stirring! Alex works through the letters and finds the shocking connections! This was riveting I read it in one sitting.

My rating for this book is 3.5 but since GoodReads doesn't give half stars I have rounded up to 4.
The premise of the book is interesting. It starts by telling you two things, that Alex is running from her past and second that Francis, the writer for the column Dear Constance, gets murdered.
The narrative is from Alex's point of view with anonymous letters interspersed between chapters to Dear Constance by the lost girl. I don't think it was much of a revelation of who the Lost Girl is, but it was a nice way to learn more about that character. My heart went out to her and I was horrified by what she had to put up with.
My favourite characters were Janice and Raymond. I would like a book based on them to be honest.
Overall the whole story felt lukewarm to me. I didn't love it but it is worth a read.
Thank you Netgalley for this free ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is probably the slowest, most boring thriller/mystery I've ever tried to read.
Not much happens and the things that do -- Alex getting the column, the threatening letters, Howard's suspicious behavior -- don't carry much weight when they should. Lucy's fear of Howard felt false and overdone. Alex seems incredibly, unbelievably naive for all that she's supposed to be in her early thirties. She doesn't think anything is worth looking into until she discusses it with her diner friends. The dialogue is weak.
I didn't connect with the characters and didn't think the ending would be satisfying so I cut my losses.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Atria Books, and the author for providing a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Despite the strong start, this one really fizzled out for me. The premise is compelling and I enjoyed Alex’s story quite a bit, but some of the reveals felt so ridiculous and silly that it was hard to take the story seriously anymore. I also have a pet peeve for when authors try to hamfist a backstory for a secondary character to use as a device later on and… yeah. Wish this one had better delivered on what it started.

It was… fine? I wanted to read some horror / thriller books and looked up a big list and this was on it. It really wasn’t “scary” necessarily, but maybe that’s on me because a woman being stalked by a man is just like normal everyday stuff LMAO.
That’s not the whole story, but I think maybe I was hoping for something a bit more “keep you up at night” and was led astray by this being on a scary book list. The characters were fine; the main character was a little annoying but she starts to make a little more sense at the end. There were a couple good reveals for sure but overall just kinda walked away feeling “meh.”
