There was a period of time (it actually my still be going on) where my husband was really into zombie protection. He would tell me places he saw on his way to work that would be a good shelter, come the zombie revolution. This would be followed by me saying, "Ok" and him saying, "I'm totally serious, you know that right?" and then I try to convince him that I am too. Needless to say, I don't think he is super thrilled, after reading this, that we live in a downstairs apartment now (can't run up and then destroy the stairs, you see).
Read in the lobby of a small theater while waiting to see a zombie play. It was not as amusing as I thought it would be, but better than the play.
A well written guide to surviving a zombie apocalypse, it is hard to get through as it's as dry as a survival guide.
Are you someone who is secretly wishing a zombie outbreak or someone who thinks that a zombie outbreak is going to happen in future because of all the drug experiments that are going on?
If your answer is yes then this book is written for you. It provides a clinical, no nonsense information on how to survive a zombie apocalypse. It starts with the various myths about about zombies; The virus which is responsible for zombie outbreak and how it spreads and the behavioural pattern of zombies. The subsequent chapters describes what weapons and combat techniques are best against zombies and where you should retreat to if the outbreak is not manageable.
It concludes with a list of all the zombie outbreaks recorded throughout history.

Passable, but uninspired and uninspiring. After the brilliant World War Z, I have higher expectations from Max Brooks than this thin, generic, comic that seems little more than a money grab off the popularity of the zombie genre.
Good. That is the best I can say. I preferred his other book.
While I read this mainly as a companion to the excellent 'World War Z' I have to admit that it was a fun read in and of itself. I feel like I'm pretty prepared for the zombie apocalypse now, I just hope I never have to use my new knowledge.
The Zombie Survival Guide can be divided into two basic sections: survival manual and outbreak history. The approach to the book is fairly deadpan - written as a run-of-the-mill survival guide with enough snarky little asides to remind you of the content. The sections dealing with survival (weapons, transportation, planning, etc.) became fairly repetitive. The history of zombie outbreaks is more entertaining. Who knew that zombies were responsible for the disappearance of the colony at Roanoke, VA?!? When reading World War Z, you'll know who had been truly well-prepared and followed Brooks' instructions.
Thought it would be a fun survival guide with a little bit of an "oh no zombies" twist, but it was super zombie focused, which isn't bad, just not my thing. I do have the WWZ audiobook on hold tho, and I'm excited
